As All Energy Australia wrapped up last week, we were very happy to receive feedback from our employees attending that the session chaired by CS Energy’s Head of Policy and Regulation, Alison Demaria, on Operating in the National Electricity Market was amongst the most interesting! The session explored how the integration of new energy technologies is changing the operating paradigm of the market and how Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in particular are innovating how participants operate in the market. This was apparent in the presentations by Pan Galanis (Akaysha Energy), who explored the opportunities and challenges of the NEM’s volatility; Alex Leemon (Gridcog) who demonstrated that optimisation is key to capturing these opportunities; James Tetlow (Overwatch Energy) who outlined the practicalities of BESS being scheduled assets (complete with Flying High analogies!); and Philippe Orhan (Neoen), who shared the experience of being an operator and making data-driven decisions. Thank you to Alison for representing CS Energy, and Pan, Alex, James and Philippe for sharing your knowledge to make an engaging and insightful session.

Could these students be future energy industry workers? Our team at Kogan Creek Power Station had the pleasure of showing high school students from Chinchilla, Miles, and Tara in the Western Downs around the site yesterday as part of Chinchilla Community Commerce & Industry Inc. BEST Ignite Your Future Tour. The annual tour offers students the opportunity to visit employers in the region, showing them the career pathways available to them locally; likewise, employers get the chance to meet some up and coming local talent! This year there were 267 students from five schools on nine buses with assistance from 24 volunteers to visit 22 businesses in the region - congratulations to CCCI on making it happen! A big thank you also to our team at Kogan Creek Power Station for hosting the students and sharing their knowledge and insights into the industry.

Congratulations to CS Energy's Training team, who were finalists at the recent Australian Institute of Training & Development - AITD Excellence Awards in Sydney. The team was nominated in the Best Blended Learning Solution category for their work in implementing and standardising our Training Management System, including launching our Learning Management System (LMS) and integrating eLearning modules for our businesses processes and inductions. Additionally, significant investments have been made in practical learning experiences tailored to operational practices, such as the purpose-built training tower we have on our sites. The team of eight has also been collaborating with industry experts to align with national standards and deliver targeted outcomes. "This demonstrates CS Energy's commitment to continuous improvement and our ability to adapt learning strategies to meet the diverse needs of our workforce," said Enterprise Training and Development Manager Rob Armstrong. Despite not taking out the award, Rob said it was very rewarding to celebrate with the team at the Awards. "I'm very proud of the efforts the team has put in over the years, and to be named a finalist against large-scale businesses like Australia Post, Services Australia, and Westpac Group is testament to this." With National Safe Work Month, Cyber Security Awareness Month, and Queensland Mental Health Week merging in October, multiple teams across CS Energy have been sharing tools and information to bring awareness to the different ways we can keep ourselves and those around us safe at work, and at home. Our Cybersecurity team has been providing daily tips and quizzes on protecting passwords, securing technology, avoiding and reporting online scams, and other phishy things to look out for ; and our operational teams have continued a series of workshops around process safety and risk assessments. Employees who had not previously had the opportunity took part in face-to-face General Awareness training sessions with Mates in Energy, learning how MiE works and understanding issues around suicide and mental health at work and in the community. We have also expanded our partnership with Bunyarra Wellbeing Co. with a representative visiting our Brisbane office each month for anyone needing someone to talk to. Bunyarra also provides in-person services at our sites on alternate weeks to our EAP provider. #nationalsafeworkmonth #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth

CS Energy is an active member of the Biloela community through Callide Power Station, and it was great to be part of the town's centenary celebrations this year. These culminated in a series of events over the October long weekend, including a family fun day, markets, black tie ball, and the burying of a time capsule. It was great to see some of our current and past employees get dressed up for a glamourous night at the ball - proudly sponsored by CS Energy through Round 12 of our Community Sponsorships Fund. CS Energy also displayed some old photos and newspaper clippings about Callide Power Station at the Biloela 100 Museum, and contributed an item from our past to the time capsule, which will be reopened in 2074. The CS Energy Cycling team has brought home the trophy for being the Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer top fundraising team for the second year in a row! The team exceeded its $15,000 fundraising target, raising $16,721 for Mater Foundation towards cancer research. We'd like to say a big thank you to the friends, family, and colleagues who donated to the team. Your generosity and support is very much appreciated! We'd also like to give a special shout out to a couple of our riders who unfortunately had to withdraw from the race due to injuries, but still turned up to volunteer at the event; and to our support teams at both CS Energy and Mater Foundation for all the behind the scenes work they do in pulling together an event like this. As well as breaking our own fundraising total, this year we saw our largest ever team participate and had the first women join the team. The bar's been set high for 2025! The CS Energy Cycling Team has had some early weekend starts over the last few months, training for the Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer event - which is now just three days away. Raising money for the Mater Foundation towards cancer research, the event will see our riders rise and shine for a 5.30am start on Sunday 13 October to take part in the 100km bike ride. Last year, our team was the highest corporate fundraiser, raising $12,800. They've already exceeded that total this year, but are just shy of the $15,000 goal. If you'd like to make a donation to support this great cause, go to 👇 https://lnkd.in/gwBQEk6F You can learn more about Team CS Energy here: https://lnkd.in/ghMKUcgD All the best to our riders for Sunday! Anyone looking out the window in South East Queensland this afternoon is seeing grey skies and probable storms - a timely reminder that 'weather doesn't plan, but you can', the theme for Get Ready Queensland Week this week (8-13 October). A Queensland Government initiative coordinated by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, the Get Ready Queensland program assists businesses and communities prepare for weather-related disasters. There are multiple resources on the website to help you make a plan to keep your home, loved ones, and community safe if you're impacted by severe weather, as well as information on what you can do during or after a disaster. October is also National Safe Work Month, and we encourage everyone to take the time to understand their risk, make a plan, and pack a kit. For more information, go to https://lnkd.in/gfyjDpB
