@KPMG has drilled down into the latest @Australian Bureau of Statistics data to find the Australian gas industry contributes $105 billion to our economy each year, or 3.7% of GDP, and supports 215,000 jobs. Highlighting the potential flow-on returns of more private investment in gas, KPMG’s modelling found that only a 5% increase in Australia’s gas production would add another $10.5 billion to the economy and 1,150 jobs. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)'s latest gas inquiry report has found new gas production and supporting infrastructure for Australia’s east coast is not coming online fast enough to avoid supply shortfalls. Recognising natural gas’s vital role in the energy transition, the ACCC has called for policies that support more efficient and timely investment in gas markets. Denison Gas Limited supports these calls as it actively works to develop new gas supplies. Reinforcing the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)’s view, independent advisory firm EnergyQuest says Australia’s east coast will experience substantial gas shortages in 2026. Its analysis shows current supply will meet only 70% of NSW and ACT demand in the winters of 2026 through to 2028. This highlights how Australia urgently needs policies and initiatives, such as the Frontier Gas Exploration Grants Program, to support companies such as Denison Gas Limited, which is bringing new gas supplies to market by expanding its exploration strategy to find untapped reservoirs. Denison’s well-received growth story was presented at the AGM of the NSW Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers recently, by Denison Gas Limited Executive Chair Dr Xingjin Wang. Since taking over the  assets in 2019, through innovation and cost-efficient management, Denison has leveraged multiple opportunities across its assets in the Bowen Basin, and is now on track to supplying a significant 10-plus petajoules into the energy hungry east-coast gas market. #eastcoastgas #energymarkets #energytransition
