Powering communities for a brighter future
About us
Endeavour Energy is a safety focused and customer-centred business determined to be the best performing network in Australia. Our people take great pride in being of service to our communities by efficiently distributing electricity to our customers in a way that is safe, reliable and sustainable. We manage a $6.2 billion electricity distribution network serving more than a million connected customers, or 2.4 million people, living and working across 24,800 square kilometres in Sydney’s Greater West, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, Illawarra and the South Coast of NSW. Our network powers Australia’s third largest economy, and includes Sydney’s North West and South West Priority Growth Centres, established in 2005 to house 500,000 new residents over 30 years in suburbs similar in size to Wollongong and Canberra. The region is also home to Sydney’s proposed second airport. We’re owned by an Australian-led consortium of institutional investors with world class experience in investing and managing regulated utilities across the globe. The consortium has a clear objective to create long-term value by efficiently investing in Endeavour Energy’s assets to improve safety and customer outcomes. The consortium acquired 50.4% ownership of the rights to manage Endeavour Energy’s network assets under a 99 year lease in June 2017. It’s led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), and includes AMP Capital, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation and Qatar Investment Authority. The NSW Government retains a 49.6% interest and continues to licence safety and reliability.

IN THE NEWS: Applications are already flowing in from residents' keen to take part in Australia’s first community-led pilot of home electrification, Electrify 2515. Watch this Seven Network story to hear how customers living in the postcode of 2515 in the Illawarra are looking to slash power bills, reduce emissions and create energy efficient homes for a cleaner, greener community. The innovative project offers subsidies and support for 500 households upgrading to electric appliances, paving the way for a smart, electric future. It aims to simplify the electrification process while providing important research to inform how residents nationwide can benefit from home electrification in the future. Endeavour Energy (NSW)'s Chief Executive Officer Guy Chalkley said, “What we’ve seen with the technology is that it’s in its infancy, but it will get cheaper.” Thanks Angelique Opie for showcasing this groundbreaking pilot. LEARN LOCALLY, THINK NATIONALLY: Today we joined the Hon Chris Bowen, Alison Byrnes MP, Saul Griffith, Darren Miller and Katherine McConnell to officially launch Electrify 2515, Australia’s first community-led electrification pilot designed to help households save on energy bills and cut emissions. Powered by passionate locals in partnership with Rewiring Australia, Brighte, Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), and Endeavour Energy (NSW), this innovative pilot will provide valuable real-world data on rapid electrification within a community, measuring consumer behaviour, attitudes, and energy bill savings. Endeavour Energy will monitor the local grid closely throughout the pilot, generating insights to optimise the network for everyone as we navigate this smart energy transition. In announcing the pilot’s launch, Federal Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen praised the 2515 community for being “all in” in wanting to make this project a positive reality “to ensure that the country benefits from renewable energy, the planet benefits from renewable energy, and the household benefits as well.” Rewiring Australia Co-founder and Chief Scientist Saul Griffith said the pilot aimed to create the electric future in a real community today. "Pilots like these will allow us to invent the clean consumer energy model for the whole world." Talking about the opportunity to collaborate with community partners and the federal government to decarbonise the grid and electrify homes with solar, batteries, and electric hot water systems our CEO Guy Chalkley said, “We’re excited and confident that this will help create clean, green communities that pave the way for others.” Residents in the 2515 postcode can apply for subsidies of up to $1,000 for heat pump hot water systems, reverse cycle air conditioners, and induction cooktops, along with up to $1,500 for home batteries. Additional subsidies will be available for lower-income households, ensuring accessibility for all. Each household will receive a free smart energy device to optimise energy use, as well as switchboard upgrades to accommodate new appliances. DRIVING INNOVATION IN SAFETY: We’re promoting safe driving around worksites with the help of a clever safety initiative spearheaded by our Emergency Services Officer Nick Souris. After recognising that our operations often intersect with traffic, and that many powerlines and cables within our Endeavour Energy (NSW) network run alongside or within roadways, Nick suggested using the hazard alert feature in the popular Waze navigation app to keep drivers informed about our operations while on their journey. To bring Nick’s vision to life, we developed an integration with our CLICK work scheduling platform to flag all tasks near roads as hazards in Waze. As a result, motorists using the Waze app receive hazard alerts as they approach our worksites, encouraging safer driving and enhancing the safety of our teams. Congratulations Nick on your innovative thinking and commitment to driving progress in workplace safety! #Safety #Innovation #PowerTogether Cheryl Bart, Guy Chalkley, Leanne Pickering, Francoise Merit GAICD FCPA, Melissa Irwin, Andrew Pitman, Colin Crisafulli, David Campbell, Edmund Li, Sean Brady, Troy Cooper

IN THE NEWS: It’s great to see our Powering Communities grants recipient featured on Seven Network showing how we’re supporting our community where it’s needed most. Through the program we were able to help Richmond Riding for the Disabled keep their facilities open after constant flooding had them on the verge of shutting down. Thanks to the grant, this dedicated voluntary organisation was able to install a rainwater reuse system to reduce localised flooding and increase the use of their facilities, getting their clients back in the saddle with smiles on their faces. Rebecca Hill says Endeavour Energy (NSW) is looking to power together with the community to deliver programs that matter. “We launched our Powering Communities grants program so we can make a lasting impact at a local level where it is really needed.” If you want to make a meaningful impact in your community, consider applying for our Powering Communities grants program with applications closing Sunday 20 October >> https://lnkd.in/gprBQB8s A huge thank you to Grace Fitzgibbon and Seven Network for highlighting our efforts to help communities thrive and make sure no one is left behind. #PowerTogether #PoweringCommunities #Energy Cheryl Bart, Guy Chalkley, Leanne Pickering, Francoise Merit GAICD FCPA, Melissa Irwin, Andrew Pitman, Colin Crisafulli, David Campbell, Vida Cheeseman

CUSTOMER CENTRED FOCUS: Our efforts to lead the shift towards a smarter, cleaner, and more customer-centric energy system is the centre of our sixth Energy Charter Disclosure Report released today. The report details our efforts towards better customer and community outcomes and provides a platform for us to stand up and be counted in demonstrating our purpose in powering communities for a brighter future. This year we’ve charted a course for the positive impact we believe Endeavour Energy (NSW) must have for our customers and communities to thrive by: • co-designing renewable energy solutions like our award-winning Bawley Point and Kioloa community • jointly funded the establishment of 80 community batteries with DCCEEW for customers to participate in the energy transition and reduce their energy costs • using drones for powerline inspections to improve efficiency and safety, reducing the impact on customers and livestock • using innovative technology to improve affordability, reliability, and sustainability through our pioneering digital substations and our self-healing FLISR technology. We thank our Peak Customer and Stakeholder Committee, our Customer Steer Co, and our Board for challenging us to innovate, to be bold, and to be better than we were yesterday.
