We have launched its inaugural community battery energy plan, enabling lower priced electricity for thousands of NSW customers across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and Maitland.   Our new initiative, Community Battery Ease, enables local households, including renters and apartment dwellers, within 13 community battery locations across the Ausgrid region, the potential to save around $200 on their average bill. EnergyAustralia's Renae Gasmier, said: “Community batteries when done with consumers at heart, are a win-win for communities and help accelerate our progress towards a decarbonised power system. Generating, sharing and using energy closest to its source can be a more affordable way to produce energy, and this is the first time we are bringing this to life through our EnergyAustralia Community Battery Ease product." This new affordable electricity tariff for consumers is approximately 29% less than the Default Market Offer, with customers receiving 24 cents p/kWh off-peak, and 30 cents p/kWh peak. Participating homes with rooftop solar can trial a virtual home battery experience and earn a 6c/kWh feed-in tariff on their excess solar energy. There is no lock in contract, with customers able to opt out at any time.   To read more, check out the full release here. https://bit.ly/3UlD8Nj. Yet another impressive AFR Energy and Climate Summit was held in Sydney this week. Discussion focused on all the topical issues relating to our transitioning energy sector, including nuclear, gas, renewables momentum and storage. Our MD Mark Collette spoke on Monday, sharing our views on the need to deliver greater predictability in billing to energy consumers and provide greater consumer protections against an increasingly volatile wholesale market.

Mondays can be tough, but waking up today knowing that over 20 families will receive much-needed prams made it so much easier. Last week, our Communications team took a special Mystery Bus trip with Good Company to visit Our Village (formerly St Kilda Mums) — an amazing charity that supports vulnerable families and carers. We jumped right in, cleaning, repairing, and assembling prams, each one carefully filled with teddies and blankets, ready to bring comfort to families today. 🧸🏡 Our Village is doing incredible work, ensuring all children have access to essentials like prams, clothing, nappies, and toys. Being able to support them as a team, while using company volunteer days, has been so rewarding! Thank you GoodCompany for making it such an easy and fun way to make a difference.

This week, to bring awareness to National Safe Work Month, we heard from the inspiring Alan Newey, who shared his powerful story about how a workplace incident in 1999 changed his life forever. Alan lost his right arm in a conveyor belt accident, and his experiences challenged us to think about workplace safety.  He emphasised his biggest regret was the impact the accident had on his wife, Kathy. Alan’s message was clear: we must speak up when we see something unsafe. Each of us is responsible for one another’s safety. We’re committed to increasing awareness and reducing the risk of injuries to hands, feet, and limbs as part of our EA2025 HSSE Strategy. We’re working hard to create a safer workplace for everyone. Thank you, Alan, for sharing your story and thanks to Emma Materowski and Jeremy Elms for coordinating this event.

Today is World Mental Health Day and National Homelessness Day – two critical issues that are deeply interconnected. With homelessness on the rise across Australia, mental health struggles often accompany the challenges faced by those without a safe place to call home. It’s a stark reminder that the need for support is greater than ever. Our Family and Domestic Violence Network came together today for a powerful session led by Elle from Launch Housing, one of our workplace giving partners. In addition to learning about the incredible work they do, we packed over 20 care bags for local women currently staying in Launch Housing’s crisis accommodation. This small act of kindness is just one way we can show support, but it also highlights the urgent need for long-term solutions to address homelessness and the mental health impacts that come with it. #HeartofEA #EnergyAustralia #LaunchHousing

We’ve just signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement, for 40% of Stage 2 of Tag Energy’s Golden Plains Wind farm, further expanding our growing portfolio of renewables.    The agreement will provide EnergyAustralia with up to 345MW, of the wind farm’s 574MW capacity, equivalent to over 55 turbines, and enabling us to power over 178,000 Victorian homes and small businesses once fully commissioned.

We have announced that we will partner with New South Wales Network Services Provider, Ausgrid, to extend a dynamic pricing trial to help unlock the benefit of Virtual Power Plants, enabling customers to maximise the value of their home solar systems.   Project Edith is an 18-month dynamic network pricing trial led by Ausgrid. This project will help unlock the benefit of Virtual Power Plants, allowing customers to maximise the value of home energy assets such as rooftop solar and batteries, and support the community by giving more homes access to renewable energy.    Keen to learn more about how it will work? https://bit.ly/4eljLf1

You may have noticed that R U OK? Day has recently rebranded to simply R U OK? — because checking in with those around us isn’t just for one day, it’s something we should be doing every day. Today, our customer team had the privilege of hearing from AFL Legend, Tony Shaw, whose powerful stories reminded us how vital it is to stay connected and support each other. His message? A simple check-in could change someone’s life. So, who will you ask today: R U OK? 💛
