Here’s a sneak peek at the artist renderings of the hydrogen mobility project we’re building at the Viva Energy Hub, featuring publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling and EV charging stations for Geelong. This facility will support a diverse fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles in road freight, public transport, municipal waste management, and more. It will also offer ultra-fast EV charging in drive-through truck bays, suitable for BEVs coming to the market larger than a standard passenger car. Backed by a $34 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and $1 million from the Victorian Government via the Renewable Hydrogen Commercialisation Pathways Fund, we’re demonstrating the crucial roles hydrogen and EV charging together can play in decarbonising our industries in Australia, along with our partners ComfortDelGro Australia (CDC), Toll Group, Cleanaway Waste Management, and Barwon Water. Our hydrogen will be generated from renewable energy and recycled water, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of heavy vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to transform sustainable transport in Australia! 🚛🔋 #HydrogenEnergy #SustainableTransport #VivaEnergy #Geelong #RenewableEnergy

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles officially commissioned our new strategic fuel storage facility at the Viva Energy Hub in Geelong. This milestone is part of the Federal Government’s Boosting Australia’s Diesel Storage Program and is crucial for safeguarding Australia’s energy security and protecting our vital supply chains. Diesel fuel is essential for many sectors, including agriculture, mining, road transport, emergency management, and defence. It also serves as a backup fuel for critical services like hospitals, water, and sanitation. Viva Energy Australia CEO, Scott Wyatt, said the commissioning of these tanks marks another important step in Viva Energy’s strategy to transform traditional refining operations into a modern energy hub. “We have manufactured fuel in Australia for over 70 years here at Geelong, and this storage facility will help further strengthen our supply chains and ensure that customers have reliable access to fuels that they depend on,” he said. “Over the longer term, we have aspirations to produce lower carbon and renewable fuels, and play a leading role in driving down emissions in the fuels that we use. Production of these new fuels will also greatly benefit from these new facilities.” Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success! 🌟 #VivaEnergy #EnergySecurity #FuelStorage #Geelong

Sandra Lau, Viva Energy Australia’s Head of Hydrogen & EVs, recently spoke at the Women in Energy & Renewables Summit in Sydney. During her session, she highlighted the significant role hydrogen will play in Australia’s energy market and shared insights into the challenges and progress of Viva Energy’s hydrogen project in Geelong.   Following her presentation, Sandra joined a panel discussion with Alida Jansen van Vuuren from Ausgrid, Chloe Hicks from EnergyCo, and Vida Cheeseman from Endeavour Energy (NSW), moderated by Marghanita Johnson of the Australian Aluminium Council. The panel focused on how various sectors can accelerate renewable development to meet the 2030 targets.   Key topics discussed included the partnerships and initiatives necessary to scale up hydrogen production, the importance of innovation and job creation in supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, and the collaboration required with renewable energy developers to ensure grid integration and reliability as renewable energy penetration increases.   #hydrogen #womeninrenewables #renewableenergy

We proudly celebrated the legends of Australia’s trucking industry at the 2024 Shell Rimula National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs earlier this month. Marking a 24-year partnership between the National Road Transport Hall of Fame and Shell Rimula, we gathered in late August with over 500 attendees to honour the extraordinary achievements and lifelong service of individuals within the road transport community in Australia. This year, we welcomed 51 new inductees and two Icons into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame. Congratulations to all 2024 inductees, and to Gordon Martin and Sam Sali, who are recognised as this year’s road transport industry Icons.   Learn more about the 2024 Shell Rimula Wall of Fame: https://lnkd.in/gC9FBRdC

It was great to meet some of the new students coming into the industry at Deakin University’s Career Expo for the School of Engineering and the School of Architecture and Built Environment earlier this month. The talent and fresh ideas coming from the next wave of graduates was inspiring to see, and we were pleased to be able to share more about the Viva Energy way, our graduate program, and working life at Viva Energy. A big thank you to our recent and current grads Jonty O’Hara and Amanda Tang for representing Viva Energy Australia at the expo and sharing their first-hand experience with the students at Deakin University. #RUOKDay is a reminder that checking in on the people we love is a conversation we should have every day. In our recent Viva Energy People Connect session, Wayne Holdsworth, founder of SmackTalk, shared with us his harrowing story and lived experience following the tragic loss of his 17-year-old son, Mac, to suicide last year. Following that devastating loss, Wayne’s mission is to educate people on the importance of asking tough questions, listening deeply, and recognising when someone may not be OK. Let’s keep the conversation going and help those in need find support. If you or someone you love needs support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. #RUOKAnyDay #MentalHealth
