Turning pre-loved into re-loved so every child thrives.
About us
Our Village is an exciting new chapter for three of Victoria's most loved charities. St Kilda Mums, Geelong Mums and Eureka Mums have joined forces. Together, as Our Village, we will increase our impact for babies, children and the environment. This move enables us to put more resources on the front line to achieve our goals of reaching every Victorian baby and child up to the age of six that needs us while reducing the waste that ends up in landfill. Our Village collects pre-loved essential items for babies and children and partners with social services to re-home them so no baby or child goes without. We were founded on the belief that anything is possible when we work together. Today we are a dedicated community of donors and volunteers helping over 20,000 babies and children every year and reducing the waste that ends up in landfill. We welcome volunteers on a daily basis at our warehouses in Melbourne and Geelong to help us prepare donations for distribution.

We are so pleased to have been able to support more kids to take part in the fun of #BookWeek by working with our partner Launch Housing on this great initiative. It takes a village to raise a child and Our Village exists to help alleviate some of the pressures on parents and create the opportunity for every child to thrive. Happy Book Week! 📚
It’s Book Week! 📚 Children across Australia are celebrating the magic of stories and taking part in one of the most cherished activities - dressing up as their favourite book character. At Viv’s Place, home to women and children who have escaped family violence and homelessness, we’ve been creating special memories of our own. To help the families join in the fun, we set up a costume shop where kids could choose their outfits for the week. This wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity of our community. This year, Our Village donated over 100 costume packs for the 89 children who call Viv’s Place home, offering an amazing range of choices from Bluey to Where’s Wally to Wonder Woman. Thank you to Our Village and all our donors for bringing the magic of Book Week to the children at Viv’s Place!

Two weeks ago Launch Housing reached out to us with a special request. They wanted our help to ensure kids from families escaping family violence could take part in book week. Next week, kids across Australia will be dressing up as their favourite book characters and toting their favourite books around school. While this initiative is wonderful and celebrates the joy of reading, there are many families who struggle to take part. When your focus is on making sure there's a roof over your head and food on your child's plate, costumes for book week aren't a priority. But every child deserves to thrive. So, Launch Housing will be setting up a Costume Shop stall at one of their long-term community housing complexes, Viv's Place. They asked if we could supply them with costumes and books, and oh boy - did our Book Nook team DELIVER! Our fantastic volunteers pulled together a variety of donated items from the warehouse, and raided op shops (as far as Anglesea!) for costumes. They had great fun pairing their finds with books from the book nook, from Bluey and Minions and Where's Wally to Snow White and Frozen and Wonder Woman! There are 89 children in the building complex, and the request stated "any amount of costumes would be appreciated". Yesterday, we delivered over 100 packs. Thank you to everyone (especially our amazing Book Nook volunteers) who made this happen, and to Launch Housing for this great initiative. Every child should get to enjoy Book Week. Stay tuned next week as we share some of the epic costumes! #ourvillage #bookweek #bookweek2024 #bookweekcostume #community #volunteering #volunteersmakeadifference #volunteers

Our Village have a wonderful purpose. "Reaching every Victorian baby and child up to the age of six that needs us, whilst also significantly reducing the waste that ends up in landfill." This week some of the Rising Tide Financial team spent the day repairing & cleaning prams, along with some heavy lifting in the warehouse. I love that we play a part in people achieving their 'Yes' moments, but the foundational work that Our Village do is on another level.
