Just in from the UK Deputy PM: “We know that our universities are being actively targeted by hostile actors and need to guard against the threat posed to frontier research in the most sensitive sectors,” said the deputy prime minister Oliver Dowden. Foreign espionage is a big risk for Western Universities. In Australia we have export controls, UFIT, sanctions and SOCI all requiring university compliance and attention. It’s a lot to manage, but necessary to protect Australia’s research… and if that’s not enough, it’s a legal requirement. At Goal Group we can help you. #sanctions #exportcontrols #ufit #soci #criticalinfrastructure #technologyadvantage #foreignespionage
Interesting to read about #researchsecurity and #exportcontrol concerns in the U.K. Sounds like #academicresearch and regulators on both sides of the Atlantic are dealing with some of the same issues. #research #tradecompliance

Better late than never! Goal Group Chairman Alan Rankins OAM and CEO Mick Green at the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN National) National Gala Dinner catching up with old colleagues and new friends. #defence #australianindustry #defenceindustry #sme
A bit of a delay getting our photos up but Mick Green and I had a great time at the AIDN National Dinner. Caught up with old friends and enjoyed speeches, especially entertaining ones like Christopher Pyne presented!👏 Thanks Carl and Brent and organising staff. It is often difficult lately to enjoy something in Defence as a Sovereign SME, but it was great to discuss the issues with so many of my long term colleagues. Even Kev Carroll AM , a founder of AIDN, could still come which was fabulous. Great new logo and website too!!👏 All in all worth the trip!

With over 150 years of combined supply chain and logistics experience, industry and government are increasingly approaching Goal Group to discuss their #supplychain and how to embed resilience. So, what does that mean? Supply Chain Preparedness is the 'sustainable capacity to apply capabilities to accomplish government-directed tasks,’ a primary functional output of defence governance. It derives demand signals from strategic guidance and rationalises these against resource constraints, thereby setting actionable targets for force generation that are linked to strategy. Why is it important for Defence? What if a potential adversary could erode defence capability, and therefore, combat effectiveness simply by buying the entire supply of a critical component on the open market? Disabling an entire platform without firing a shot. This is why the determination of supply chain resilience and diversification of options to provide that resilience, are important first line considerations for Defence supply chains. What can be done? 🔔 Map your peacetime and contested supply chain scenarios. 🔔 Know your top degraders that risk capability grounding or a reduction in the mission availability. 🔔 Do a deep dive on supply chain for the critical item/s. 🔔 Test your assumptions on workforce, infrastructure, and interdiction vulnerabilities. 🔔 Ensure that you have plans in place to leverage the strengths and manage the risks in the lines of supply. Sounds complex? We can help. Reach out to us today to understand the importance of supply chain resilience and security - especially in our current environment.
