Since 2012, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, with the support of the NSW Government, has presented the Michelle Beets Award for Inspirational Paediatric Care, honouring the memory of the devoted and highly respected nurse, Michelle Beets. This award celebrates health professionals who inspire their peers through exceptional efforts to advance the health of children in NSW.   The 2024 Michelle Beets Award winners and highly commended recipients were recognised at The Great Humpty Ball, Sydney on Saturday, 30 November 2024. The awards were presented by the Hon. Ryan Park MP, NSW Minister for Health, Regional Health, and the Illawarra and South Coast, alongside Humpty Dumpty Foundation Patron, Johanna Griggs AM.   Congratulations to Clinical Nurse Consultant Rebecca Saad of Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Randwick, this year’s metropolitan winner, and Paediatrician Associate Professor (Elizabeth) Liz Cotterell of Armidale Hospital and Community Health, the regional winner. Both recipients will receive $25,000 worth of medical equipment for their facilities through the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, as well as a $5,000 bursary for professional development, training or research.   For the first time in the award’s history, three highly commended recipients have been announced. Senior Speech Pathologist Dr. Kate Short of South Western Sydney Local Health District was named the metropolitan highly commended recipient. Audiologist Eliza Brazel of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) and Speech Pathologist Mattias Grasselli of Armidale Hospital and Community Health were both recognised as regional highly commended recipients. Humpty CEO & Managing Director, Claire Reaney, stated, “It is only with the ongoing support of the NSW Government and the Hon. Humpty would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday night for The Great Humpty 'Frontier' Ball at The Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. It was an unforgettable evening, graciously hosted by our Patron, Johanna Griggs AM. The incredible generosity of our cherished Humpty community of Good Eggs and the endless energy on the dance floor, thanks to Furnace and the Fundamentals, made the night truly special.   Humpty’s CEO, Claire Reaney, shared the remarkable impact the Foundation continues to have on advancing care in the Australian health sector. This year, with the unwavering support of our wonderful Good Eggs, including those made of the evening, Humpty has delivered more than 470 pieces of children’s medical equipment, worth more than $4.74 million, to hospitals nationwide. Among these was an extraordinary donation of two Patient Transport Vehicles for the Northern Territory, valued at $600,000. These vehicles will revolutionise newborn and maternity care in remote communities like Katherine and Nhulunbuy, enabling lifesaving retrievals to Royal Darwin Hospital for the first time.   Humpty continues to bring hope to families, and it is the generosity of our donors that help heal broken hearts.   To everyone who attended and contributed - thank you from the bottom of our Humpty Hearts for helping us make a tangible difference for sick children in hospital and their families.
