RMIT Site Visit | High St Preston This week, we welcomed students from RMIT University to tour our largest residential construction project to date - the 18-storey High St Preston build-to-rent tower. This initiative is crucial in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience, fostering a deeper understanding of high-rise and basement construction techniques. During the site visit, students explored various aspects of the live construction environment, including the erection of formwork, steel-fixing, and post-tension installation on the live deck, giving them a firsthand look at the complexities and safety considerations of these processes. Callum Coghill, Assistant Project Manager, led the students around the site, noting, "I loved giving the next generation of construction students the chance to witness the day-to-day activities of a project in the heart of structure." These visits not only provide students with a practical understanding of high-rise construction and our innovative approaches but also allow our team to gain valuable perspectives from the next generation of construction professionals. #ConstructionIndustry #KapitolGroup #civilengineering #projectmanagement #Construction #TheKapitolWay #ConstructionManagement #constructionlife #constructionwork #Melbourne #constructioncompany #Engineering #building #architecture #constructionsite #constructionequipment

Project Coordinator Training Retreat | Building Tomorrow's Leaders Our recent Project Coordinator Retreat brought together a diverse group of coordinators from across projects, providing them with a platform to voice challenges, share solutions, and build connections—key steps in developing the future leaders of our industry. With guidance from our directors and senior leaders, these discussions created a space for open, honest dialogue, allowing coordinators to raise pressing issues, share ideas, and collaborate on solutions. As our directors noted, “This room is filled with the future leaders of our business—and the industry. If we nurture this talent and truly listen, there’s a significant opportunity ahead." St Columba's College | Discovering the Construction Industry with Kapitol Group We recently welcomed Year 10 students from St Columba's College, Essendon to one of our data centre projects for a week-long, project-based learning experience. The students explored our site, asked questions, and gained fresh perspectives on the built environment. An engaging panel discussion with our team highlighted the variety of career paths within the industry, inspiring many who hadn't previously considered construction as a future option. Throughout the week, the students worked in groups to solve real-world challenges they observed on-site, such as safety, sustainability, or workplace culture. Last year, they impressed us with creative solutions like PPE designed specifically for women—a need often overlooked in our field. At Kapitol, we're committed to inspiring the next generation, especially young women, to see themselves in construction. We hope to see many of these students shaping the industry's future. Virtual Reality | Construction in Action Our digital engineering team recently took project visualisation to a new level by trialling a virtual reality walkthrough for our client to experience through VR. Using Twin-motion and integrating 3D models from our consultants and trade partners, we crafted an immersive experience that allowed our client to envision the entire project—not only before stepping on site but even before construction is complete! Virtual reality (VR) technology enables a fully immersive 3D environment, giving clients a chance to "walk through" their projects in a lifelike setting. This approach provides a fresh perspective, especially for clients without a construction background, by helping them experience the design, layout, and spatial aspects of the build in a way traditional plans simply can’t convey. The VR experience allows for clients to also raise items of concern well in advance of seeing the final product, thereby ensuring what they have envisioned is brought to life. Watch the video to see how our VR trials are transforming the client experience and opening up new possibilities. https://lnkd.in/guh7BmMY #Melbourne #constructioncompany #projectmanagement #constructionwork #Engineering #constructionequipment #constructionlife #civilengineering #building #ConstructionIndustry #TheKapitolWay #constructionsite #KapitolGroup #architecture #ConstructionManagement #Construction

NEXTDC D1 Darwin Data Centre | Completion Images Following the completion and opening of NEXTDC's first data centre in Darwin, we are pleased to showcase a series of images highlighting this state-of-the-art facility. As the only fault-tolerant digital infrastructure platform in the Northern Territory, D1 Darwin is set to be a cornerstone for the region's digital sector, providing critical support for cloud computing, AI, and IoT applications. Kapitol Group, in collaboration with NEXTDC and our trade partners, is proud to have brought this project to life. Designed to meet the demands of the digital era, D1 Darwin was constructed with resilience in mind. Ibrahim El Halabi, Project Coordinator, comments: "Managing over 160mm of rain in less than 48 hours was a significant challenge. We had to innovate to keep the site operational and ensure timely completion despite sourcing structural components from various states and coordinating the modules built in Melbourne." Key Technical Specifications: - 8MW - 3,000m² of technical space - 15 data halls with a rack capacity of 1,500 - 1.5 Target PUE - 100% Uptime - 2,000m² of mission-critical space (MCX) Swipe through to explore NEXTDC D1 Darwin Data Centre! Kapitol Group recently won two awards at the Melbourne Design Awards for our in-house innovations: the Construction Tracker and the Purchase Ordering App. These accolades are a testament to our team who are pushing the boundaries to improve productivity through digital innovation. Our Construction Tracker is a bespoke 3D tool that provides our project teams with real-time insights into construction progress, allowing us to track every detail from design to installation. This ensures that timelines and budgets are maintained, supporting informed decision-making. Our Purchase Ordering App, developed by our digital engineers in collaboration with our procurement manager, has streamlined procurement by creating a single platform for tracking payments and approvals. These bespoke systems have significantly improved our efficiency and financial performance, with both tools reflecting our commitment to innovation and tech adoption. Congratulations to all involved!
