During the ECTRIMS 2024 Patient Community Day, a huge number of questions were submitted online. As they couldn’t all be answered on the day, written responses have now been published to many of them. They are available at the link below. We are proud to share that the responses to all of these questions have been coordinated and reviewed by our co-founder, Brett Drummond, who also hosted and moderated the Patient Community Day. #multiplesclerosis #ectrims2024 #medicalresearch #patientquestions

This University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus study shares interesting insights into the role cholesterol may play in progressive multiple sclerosis. While it suggests that statins could be a possible treatment in MS, this finding must be viewed in the context of the recent failure of the MS-STAT2 clinical trial. #multiplesclerosis #cholesterol #statins #medicalresearch

We know that the ability to repair myelin gets worse over time in a person living with multiple sclerosis. Research from The University of Edinburgh has found that genetically altering cells that are important in this process can help overcome these barriers and promote remyelination in an animal model. #multiplesclerosis #myelinrepair #remyelination #geneticengineering #medicalresearch

Considering the early stages of this research, it is important to remain cautious. However, the ongoing development of CAR T cell therapy as a novel treatment for autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, is providing reason for optimism. #automimmunediseases #cartcelltherapy #multiplesclerosis #optimism

Results of the MS-STAT2 trial, led by UCL, were presented at ECTRIMS 2024. Unfortunately, it was found that simvastatin, a cholesterol lowering medication, did not show any benefits in slowing disease progression in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. As a result, it will no longer be pursued as a therapeutic option. #ECTRIMS2024 #multiplesclerosis #simvastatin

Another great episode of The ECTRIMS Podcast is now available, that explores all of the key outcomes from Day 2 of this year's Congress. In this instance, our co-founder, Brett Drummond, talks with Dr Anne Helme, Head of Research at the MS International Federation (MSIF), about the themes of patient reported outcomes and diagnostic challenges around the world. They also looked ahead to the late breaking clinical trial results session and Patient Community Day event set to take place on Day 3. #ECTRIMS2024 #multiplesclerosis #podcast #medicalresearch

Today is R U OK? Day in Australia, a chance to connect with those around you and discuss their wellbeing. As we know that mental health issues are more common in people living with multiple sclerosis, we encourage these conversations to happen regularly, regardless of where you are in the world. Without realising it, a simple question to someone you care about could have a significant, long-lasting impact. #ruokday2024 #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness
