On this day, three years ago, the National Obesity Strategy was launched. The Strategy provides a clear roadmap for government to improve Australia’s food environment, so that everyone can enjoy good health, But since its launch, little progress on the Strategy's recommendations has been made. This World Obesity Day, we're urging the Australian Government to prioritise the funding and implementation the strategy, to improve Australians' diets and prevent serious chronic disease. Food really does impact our mood—opt for nutrient-rich meals to support better mental health. Try pantry staples like wholegrain crackers and snacks high in Omega-3s like tinned fish, which can decrease the risk of mental health issues like depression. 🌟 Thank You to All Who Joined the Federation of Canteens in Schools National Roundtable! 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to all the dedicated participants who contributed to the Federation of Canteens in Schools National Roundtable! Your engagement and passion for supporting local school canteens and the communities they operate in were truly inspiring. This roundtable brought together over 90 attendees from across the sector, including representatives from canteens, local government councils, health and education, community organisations, NGOs and the private sector. The diverse participation highlighted the critical role school canteens play in nurturing the wellbeing of our children. The discussions were rich, collaborative, and focused on tackling the challenges faced by school canteens. We are excited to announce that we will draft a National Consensus Statement to reflect the collective insights and recommendations from the roundtable. This statement will be presented to policymakers and shared widely through a targeted media campaign to amplify the voice of school canteens and advocate for meaningful change. Stay tuned for updates on the next steps and how you can continue to be involved! #SchoolCanteens #CommunityWellbeing #FOCIS #NationalRoundtable
