NGH have worked on Bodangora Wind Farm and Suntop Solar Farm during the build, plus Wellington Solar Far for approvals. The Wellington centered RE projects will help power the Orana BESS that is currently under construction. It was great to see NGH projects powering the grid. #NGH, #catcon, #wellinton, #renewableenergy

I am at the AllEnergy Australia conference in Melbourne this week. I just attended the Social Licence and Community Engagement session that included a presentation by Breannah Schubach NGH‘s Principal consultant in Communications and Engagement. Bree’s presentation focused on achieving best practice engagement with our First Nations people, emphasising the importance of engaging at a grass roots level. We need to listen, learn and very importantly act on our commitments when working with mob. In her presentation Bree emphasised the importance of designing benefit sharing schemes that meet both the priorities and aspirations of the local First Nations community with a goal of achieving great outcomes for this community. Bree also discussed the progressive nature of the renewable energy industry in Canada where the government there is supporting the First People’s become owners of new energy infrastructure and is providing $300M in funds to achieve this. A great example for how our nation could move forward. #renewableenergy #AllEnergyAU

Our team at NGH is proud to announce the successful adoption of two significant strategies by MidCoast Council and Nillumbik Shire Council: - MidCoast Koala Conservation Strategy (2024-2029): This strategy focuses on the conservation, recovery, and habitat management of koalas in the MidCoast region, developed through community engagement and collaboration with the NSW Koala Conservation Partnership. - Nillumbik Biodiversity Strategy (2024-2034): A comprehensive plan for safeguarding biodiversity in Nillumbik, addressing climate impacts, urban canopy data, and wildlife protection, developed with thorough research and council collaboration. https://lnkd.in/eJRth_bX Contact us if you would like to know how we can help your council or organisation develop impactful conservation strategies.  Let’s work together to create a #NaturePositive future.  #ConservationPlanning    #NaturePositive    #NGH

Will you be at Meeting of the Mines in Cloncurry, 11-13 September 2024? This three-day industry conference will focus on challenges and opportunities facing future mining projects in the region. Research experts, industry partners, and government bodies will converge to explore the latest developments in the mining industry. Tara Beazley will share insights on navigating regulatory challenges, drawing from her experience working within the North-West Minerals Province having served as a DESI Environmental Compliance Officer, and as an Environmental Advisor at a mineral mine.  Now working as a consultant, Tara has a comprehensive view of the three critical 'arms' - compliance, industry, and consulting - that must work together to achieve both environmental protection and economic growth.  ‘By aligning these perspectives, we can overcome challenges and unlock opportunities for our region's future’ says Tara, NGH’s Regional Manager, Biodiversity NQ. The NGH team is looking forward to continuing the conversation and driving sustainable outcomes for North Queensland! 🌱⚙️ For more detail on the program - https://lnkd.in/eeGPaYiD    #SustainableDevelopment   #NorthQueensland   #NGH

An outstanding panel on Social Licence and how to Build Community Relationships Panel discussed the importance of building trust. Breannah Schubach (Jeffries), NGH provided an insightful presentation into the value and importance of appropriately engaging with First Nations people. Simple things like not sending online surveys, collaboration across developers and compensating communities for their time as they are fatigued is sensible and sage advice. Well done to the Clean Energy Council for encouraging reporting by developers and releasing the Best Practice Charter for Renewable Energy Projects.   We need standards, not box ticking guidelines, and great to see developers voluntary reporting on where and how they need to improve, and measuring the economic benefits for communities. Inclusive facilitation by Tanya Jackson highlighting the importance of doing the work, understanding communities and building trust. #AWIS2024 #cleanenergy #renewableenergy #windpower Stride Renewables

    Principal Planner at NGH

A good panel discussion followed with fellow speakers Olivia Chambers , Jacqueline Plant and Michael Sale - facilitated by the Clean Energy Council ‘s own Nicholas Aberle. At NGH we work with our clients to make their renewable energy projects a reality. But more needs to done to facilitate the clean energy transition sooner. I’m looking forward to Day 2 #AWIS2024 to hear more about that.

Just attended NGH Principal Planner Fi Cotter’s presentation ‘Gone with the wind - an epic story of reform in Victoria’ at the Clean Energy Council’s Australian Wind Industry Summit 2024. Fi stepped us through complex nature of the Victorian planning approval legislation and associated policies. The complex nature of the approvals pathways is clearly impacting on efficiencies of obtaining approval wind farm projects across Victoria. In fact there have only been 4 wind farms approved in this state since 2020 which is impacting on the speed of the energy transition in Victoria. This is especially the case when a project where the Minister for Planning directs that an Environmental Effects Statement is required and approval decisions are put on hold until the EES process is completed. This can result in planning approval process taking many years. #windenergy #renewableenergy

Last night Bec Parkes and I hosted the Far South Coast Enviro Drinks organised by the EIANZ NSW Division. We had 30 local enironmental and heritage practitioneers attend our event. We held it at the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club. What a setting, beautiful sunset over the Tathra Wharf, an Echidna wondering across the beach! We had two presenters, Jessica Bettanin from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water who gave the most engaging talk on the use of thermal drones for monitoring threatened species. Jess spoke about the exciting work she has been involved in over the last 12 months using thermal drone technology to survey the local koala population on the Far South Coast. Mick Bettanin, a Senior Fisheries Manager at the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development gave a great talk on the application and use of drones, as well as challenges and licence requirements. A fantastic night. A big thanks to Tathra Surf Life Saving Club for supplying the venue, and for the sponsors of the event Lotsearch | Spatial Intelligence | Mapping Risk and Envirolab Group who funded Pizza for the evening! #drones, #environment, #koalas
