Today is R U OK? Day. It is a day to talk to people in your life about their mental health. IDMH Connect is a website that can help you talk to people with intellectual disability about their mental health. It is also good if you have intellectual disability and you have questions about your own mental health. Check out the IDMH Connect website here: https://lnkd.in/gDPvyxXT #MentalHealth #IntellectualDisability #RUOKDay #RUOKAnyDay

NSW action on the Disability Royal Commission! Good discussion today with Kate Washington MP and our colleagues in the NSW Disability Advocacy Network. We stressed: - Health - Mainstream capacity building and take Intellectual Disability Health Teams statewide. - Criminal justice - Broaden the IDRS diversion program beyond just 6 of 155 Local Courts. - Jobs - Fix the dire rate of jobs in the public sector for people with intellectual disability. - Guardianship reform - CID is bursting to work with the government on moving from a working party report to legislation. There is much to be done! Joanne Yates Megan Spindler-Smith Kim Roots Down Syndrome NSW Family Advocacy NSW

Is your organisation or council starting to plan your next Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)? Are you in the process of reviewing your old DIAP? We can help make sure your plan includes everyone’s voice. Our focus groups with people with intellectual disability offer valuable insights to create a DIAP that truly reflects the needs of your community. We also offer our Easy Read translation service, making your DIAP accessible to a much broader community. Here is an example of a DIAP we translated into Easy Read for Sutherland Shire Council! Get in touch to find out how we can support your planning process: https://lnkd.in/dbFh2NEU #DisabilityInclusionActionPlan #DisabilityInclusion #EasyRead
