Partridge was proud to support International Women's Day this year by sending Hydraulic Associate Ewelina Sowada and Structural Associate Casthuri Kamalaraj to an Engineers Australia event on March 7, featuring Captain Mona Shindy CSC. Captain Shindy, a retired Naval officer with degrees in engineering, commerce, and arts, shared her experiences of navigating male-dominated environments, demonstrating first hand that individuality is key to success. From an engineering perspective, her focus on systems thinking and measured risk-taking is especially relevant. These principles align closely with our work at Partridge, where we routinely analyse complex systems and proactively manage potential risks. Captain Shindy's advocacy for diversity and inclusion also has significant implications for engineering teams. A diverse range of perspectives enhances problem-solving and drives innovative solutions. In a field that thrives on collaboration, creating an inclusive environment is crucial to project success. Casthuri said: “This event provided a valuable platform to learn from Captain Shindy's experiences. Her insights into navigating a career of barriers and societal change are especially impactful for engineers, particularly those in leadership roles who have the ability to empower change”. “The event gave us both the opportunity to reflect on how leadership and inclusion can be applied in engineering project delivery, ultimately contributing to stronger project outcomes,” said Ewelina. #Engineering #MonaShindy #SystemsThinking #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #WomenInEngineering #Engineers #PartridgeEngineers
