PTW’s competition-winning design for two seven-storey brick buildings at Bourke Street, Zetland in the City of Sydney is moving closer to realisation. Change from BTS to BTR involves the provision of generous shared internal and external facilities for residents. It also involves the inclusion of more apartments with studios all within the original approved building envelope. A new street bisecting the site called 'Kingsborough Way' will be completed, with a single carpark located beneath this new piece of city infrastructure. Two separate pedestrian/cycle 'through-site-links' will also be provided with the construction of this key project. PTW Architects are very proud to remain involved with this development alongside Greystar. The eighth Executive Research Seminar was held in France and The Netherlands in September - October. Through guided visits and presentations, participants interested in the design, construction and use of justice environments had the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with one another as they travelled to Strasbourg, Paris, Amsterdam, Zwolle and The Hague. Many thanks to the wonderful team at Institut des études et de la recherche sur le droit et la justice - Harold Epineuse, Léa DELION, Stephanie Millan, Xavier Cayon and Olivier CHEVET who facilitated and organised this year's Seminar with the Court of the Future Network. Also to the hosts and participants who made the Seminar a stimulating and throught-provoking two weeks. Since 2004, PTW has been an active participant with the Court of the Future Network. Professor David Tait co-coordinates the Court of the Future Network with PTW Executive Director Diane Jones. - #courtofthefuture #courtseminar2024

Located in the heart of the evolving inner-city precinct of Zetland, PTW Architects collaborated with Collins and Turner Architects on a mixed-use Design Excellence Competition in the City of Sydney. The development proposal envisions a lively, interconnected community where urban life is encouraged to thrive around a future park. The project includes four residential buildings framing the new park, completing the Outdoor Room. One of the standout elements of this City of Sydney Design Excellence Competition entry is the elegant colonnade, which visually unites the individual buildings. This architectural form offers a sheltered pedestrian pathway connecting the buildings and linking a sequence of formal entrances. It also serves as a communal space fostering interaction, relaxation and creation, thereby nurturing a strong sense of community amongst residents and visitors. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our PTW Architects and Collins and Turner Architects design teams! - #mixedusecompetition #cityofsydney #designcompetition

Our PTW New York team had a unique opportunity to enter a competition held by Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore in April 2024 and we are proud to announce that we have been awarded 2nd place out of 93 submissions! This is a huge achievement considering the number of entrants from both Singapore and globally. Well done to the team for the collaborative efforts to present such a well-considered design and many thanks to URA for creating this opportunity for us to propose a scheme to re-purpose the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) as a unique heritage and recreational node along the Rail Corridor. - Client: Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) - #urbanredevelopment #URA #repurpose #adaptivereuse #trainstation #railway #singapore
