🌏 Celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures that make up Queensland! Home to people from over 220 countries, speaking more than 180 languages and practising over 110 religious beliefs, our sunshine state is a thriving multicultural hub. To celebrate Harmony Week, Queensland Treasury’s Multicultural Network invited Christine Castley, CEO of Multicultural Australia to talk about her first-hand views on challenges and opportunities of multicultural identity in the workplace and community. The network also launched our very own Multicultural Recipe Book. These recipes represent the diverse cultures that make up our workforce, each one telling a unique story about our traditions and experiences. Harmony Week is a time to celebrate and recognise inclusiveness, respect and belonging for everyone. Thank you to Marshiah Mupinyuri, Diederik V., Louise Liddiard-Smith, Heidi Bushell and Jasmina Nuhovic as the Multicultural Executive Representative for mobilising the network and organising the morning tea. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred was responsible for the greatest loss of power in Queensland’s history. In just 10 days, more than 500,000 Queenslanders affected by the cyclone had their power restored, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Energex and Ergon Energy Network field crew staff, and hundreds more at depots and staging points throughout South East Queensland. These teams collectively put in more than 300,000 hours of work, inspecting 9,000 kilometres of network and restringing more than 175 kilometres of powerlines - a testament to their commitment to our communities. Even in tough times, the strength of Queenslanders never wavers! #QueenslandStrong #CycloneAlfred #TCAlfred #CommunitySpirit
