It was great to see so many fantastic leaders at the Living Sectors Summit, including our own Group Executive, Homes, Andrew Brooks who brought valuable insights to the panel discussion on investing into the Australian affordable housing market. Valued SGCH partners Peter Johnston, Managing Director of Lighthouse Infrastructure and Antoine Mesnage, Head of Australia for AXA Investment Managers Alts joined Andrew to highlight the value of creating viable, scalable affordable housing investments. The panel was expertly facilitated by Brookfield Asset Management's Senior Vice President Pretar Caroline Harris. SGCH has a deliberate, achievable strategy to create more housing and the experience and track record to work with governments and bring capital and capability to create great places, thriving people and connected communities. #LSS24 #GreatPlaces #ThrivingPeople #ConnectedCommunities #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing #BTR

Meet Karen, a proud resident of the Bonnyrigg Estate since 1982. Karen loves the sense of community that has grown with the generations who have lived there. SGCH is proud too. We have a long association with Bonnyrigg, the first example of a social housing public-private partnership in Australia. We look forward to this exciting next phase.

“My new home – I love it!”. ❤️ Karen has been a resident at the Bonnyrigg Estate for over 44 years and will see her community grow as we commence work on the next stage of subdivision in Sydney’s south-west. Around 65 new social and 210 new residential lots are set to be delivered in Bonnyrigg, in addition to a park with amenities such as a basketball court, playground, bike track and picnic areas. 🏀🚲 The Bonnyrigg Renewal Project is a 30-year initiative, which will eventually deliver 3,000 homes for more than 9,400 residents. More than 13 hectares of public open space, including parklands, a new town centre, community centre and garden will be included as part of this exciting transformation. 🏡 Developed in collaboration with our construction partner Traders In Purple, this ambitious project is a major step in tackling the current housing crisis and providing more homes in growing areas in need of more housing now and in the future. Bonnyrigg is an important project helping us deliver on our vision to deliver quality homes and services that change lives and end homelessness. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gM-74ggC #SocialHousing #HomesNSW #NSWGovernment #Bonnyrigg

Our Director, Charles Daoud, hosted the start of construction event at Canvas last week, reiterating the critical importance of partnerships – and having everyone invested in the success of communities like the Bonnyrigg Renewal Project. "It is this collaboration between the private sector, community housing, and all levels of government that is the recipe for success in the delivery of housing for this country," says Charles. "Projects like this happen because we have a really wonderful team that shares our passion and I think that's probably the best endorsement I can give for our own organisation." “It means so much to me and my mum. This is the first time we were ever going to rent or to live in a brand-new unit. It’s so beautiful and we’re so excited.” ❤️ Gina and her mother are just two of around 120 residents who will be moving into our newly completed $32 million social and affordable housing complex in Riverwood, on the land of the Bidjigal people. In partnership with Housing Australia and SGCH this 51-home development will provide safe and secure housing for people facing housing insecurity, a stronger safety net for women and children escaping domestic violence and women over the age of 55. Modern and energy efficient, the one- and two-bedroom units feature a 7-star NatHERS energy rating, bike storage room and an expansive landscaped communal area with barbeques to create a sense of community. SGCH is proud to be building on its long history with the Bonnyrigg Estate, by partnering with Housing Australia, Homes NSW and property developer Traders In Purple on the construction of 65 new social homes as part of the Canvas redevelopment. Our Acting CEO Joe Achmar picked up a shovel with Karen, a Bonnyrigg resident of 44 years, to turn the first sod on the project with the Hon. Clare O'Neil MP, Minister for Housing and Homelessness and Traders In Purple Executive Director Charles Daoud. ‘This is a really special area in NSW, a very vibrant community,’ Mr Achmar said. ‘In 2007 this was the first social housing private-public partnership in Australia and we’re proud to have been involved from the start. ‘Our purpose is to create safe and sustainable homes that are affordable to allow people to have access to opportunities, to build on their lives and connect to community. It’s only through these strong partnerships with the public sector and private sector that we as a nation can begin to address the housing challenges we face,’ Mr Achmar said. Long-time resident Karen said in 44 years a vibrant, inclusive community has grown from strength to strength. ‘And the homes are lovely,’ she said. SGCH will manage the 65 social homes upon completion of the project, in stages, by 2027.
