RESTORING PETRIE CREEK FOR THE DUCK-BILLED PLATYPUS We’re committed to creating greener spaces and healthier waterways for our region, which is why we recently joined forces with ECOllaboration to clean up a section of bushland along Nambour’s Petrie Creek. Restoration efforts were completed in October, and included removal of invasive and restricted weed species, as well as rubbish and debris created by human activity in the highly populated area. Since then, there have been multiple sightings of platypuses in the area – including two that were spotted near our Nambour Wastewater Treatment Plant! OSKAR WINS ENGINEERS AUSTRALIA AWARD Our Vacation Student Oskar has taken out the Michael Woodhouse Engineers Australia undergraduate award as a promising future water engineer. A University of the Sunshine Coast student, his thesis is focused on the data garnered from digital water meters to improve water management and conservation strategies. His analysis focused on identifying water consumption patterns across seasons, weekdays versus weekends, and time of day, along with developing thresholds for detecting excessive consumption and potential leaks. Oskar will also begin our Graduate Program next year and we can't wait to see what he does next! More: www.unitywater.com/eaaward #engineer #digitalwatermeter #watermanagement
