Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance

About us

WAITTA is a non-partisan, non-aligned alliance of ICT and digital industry and professional stakeholder organisations and thought leaders – the people who provide the digital knowledge, technology and services to the WA community. WAITTA started in 1991 as an industry award, with the intention to recognise outstanding performance and contributions by members of the ICT community in WA. WAITTA has two Award programs targeting both ends of the ICT digital life cycle, while facilitating information transfer and identifying opportunities for mutually beneficial activities between Alliance members & their stakeholders, and for the broader WA community. The INCITE Awards is WA's longest running Tech Awards Program (since 1991) and the premier event in ICT for WA. The program aims to showcase and support ICT innovators in WA through an Awards system that will place their tech on the national and global map. The inaugural Game Changer Awards were held in 2017 and is an opportunity for children in Year 3 to Year 10, to showcase their innovative solutions to the worlds challenges, using project based learning, STEM skills, project based learning, organisation, teamwork and presentation skills. In 2020, WAITTA has joined forces with Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and the generous IT Industry to raise much needed funds to ensure our sick kids and young people continue to receive world class paediatric care through a day of golf (putt4dough). Our Vision WAITTA will be recognised as the advocacy group for ICT innovation in Western Australia. Our Mission & Purpose To promote the Western Australian ICT industry and profession by showcasing excellence through awards, events and recognition programs Our Values Honesty, Integrity, Commitment, Respect

📣 Meet Premila Jina - WAITTA Vice President! We're getting to know our Board Directors through this Q&A series on our page each Wednesday. Let us know in the comments if you've got anything you'd like to ask! Today, we're getting to know Premila who was appointed Vice President in July 💭Tell us a little about yourself and what you bring to WAITTA "Hi there! I’m Premila, the founder of Strategic Transformation Advisory (STA), a Perth-based consultancy started in May 2022. My passion is blending technological innovation with human-centered solutions, helping organisations navigate complex challenges to achieve meaningful outcomes. At STA, every engagement is tailored to ensure both business success and the well-being of the people involved. Volunteering is deeply embedded in my ethos. For me, 'Steward Leadership' is about leaving a lasting impact—not just in technology, but in expanding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across our industry. This commitment drives my work with WAITTA, where I’m excited to contribute to creating a more inclusive future in WA’s tech landscape." 💭What is your vision or aspiration for WAITTA? "WAITTA has a legacy of over 33 years, during which time technology and innovation have grown at an extraordinary pace. Now, we have the unique opportunity to not just continue the work of those who came before us, but to redefine it. This is our moment to ensure WAITTA stays relevant, forward-thinking, and reflective of today’s diverse and dynamic tech landscape. My vision is to see WAITTA as a beacon of diversity. It’s not enough to have representation; we need to embed diversity into the very fabric of what we do. I want to ensure that women, neurodiverse individuals, and First Nations people are at the forefront of this transformation. Together, we can shape an industry where no one is left behind." 💭What's something people might not know about you? "When people ask where I’m from, I often pause. I was born in India, raised in Kenya, studied in London, and worked across Europe and the US before settling in Australia seven years ago. I consider myself a global citizen, shaped by diverse cultures and experiences. This journey has not only enriched my perspective but also strengthened my commitment to fostering inclusivity in everything I do. It’s this global view that fuels my passion for making meaningful change, both in my personal life and through my work." 🔗 Read more about our Board on our website - https://lnkd.in/g-kuf9rs

The Gambanan Statement 🌊 On Thursday 22 August, at the 2024 AGMs, the five representative organisations of the Kimberley issued The Gambanan Statement. Acknowledging the 2024 theme ‘Tides change, Together we stand strong’, the statement recognises the resilience and strength of Kimberley Aboriginal people in the wake of the failed referendum. The statement outlines how Kimberley Aboriginal people desire to work with government and industry. It calls for genuine partnerships that recognise and celebrate our legal rights as a basis for sustainable wealth creation and intergenerational transformation. It urges for fundamental and defining change to the systems and structures that continue to perpetuate the exclusion of Aboriginal people from the modern Australian economy. WA Minister for Emergency Services; Innovation & the Digital Economy; Science; Medical Research; Min assisting for State & Industry Development, Jobs and Trade. Deputy Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council

This morning I launched the Cook Government of Western Australia’s Digital Industries Acceleration Strategy (WA: Digitally Evolved) at an event hosted by the AIIA. The #strategy will work alongside other #initiatives and #programs to help more local businesses and industries get onboard. The strategy complements other Cook Government strategies including the #Digital Strategy for the Western Australian Government 2021-2025 and the Digital Inclusion in WA Blueprint. It adds the missing industry development piece to the existing suite of digital economy strategies focused on #government digital transformation and #community digital inclusion. The strategy supports the growth and development of WA’s rapidly expanding digital sector and #builds on our world-leading capabilities in digital technologies in areas including #robotics, #automation and #remoteoperations to deliver the outcomes of Diversify WA and Future State:Accelerating Diversify WA. Three main goals have been identified: • Western Australia has a growing and vibrant digital sector; • Western Australian businesses continuously evolve in digital capability; and • Western Australian industries transform through embracing digital. Each of these goals is aimed at ensuring WA has thriving businesses and industries which are digitally secure, enabled and empowered. The five priority areas for the strategy are • #advocacy and #education; • #advisory and #technical support; • #finance and #supply opportunities; • #data and #digital facility sharing; and • #opportunity Find out more here:- https://lnkd.in/gGaW334f Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation Office of Digital Government Western Australia AIIA
