We have a storied history in the Flinders Shire, and we are proud to support the local community via our Kennedy Energy Park Community Benefit Fund that will deliver $250,000 to the region over five years. The Community Benefit Fund aims to support sustainable development initiatives, with $50,000 available annually. We've partnered with Flinders Shire Council who are administering the grants in line with local priorities. They are currently accepting applications for funding in the below categories:   🏏 Equipment and Infrastructure ⛳️ Events Submissions for these streams close 11:00pm AEST 3 November 2024, and applications for further funding streams will open in the new year. We are proud to have been part of the #RegionalConnect pilot this week alongside like-minded organisations committed to empowering regional communities through effective and respectful engagement. Australia's energy transition is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate and work towards a more prosperous future for all. For us, it means more than just delivering projects—it’s about engaging early and bringing local voices into decision-making from the start to understand their needs and create lasting benefits. Our community team is always seeking to raise the bar, and programs like #RegionalConnect help to drive continual improvement. Well done on all of the hard work to date, Engaged Outcomes and Wendy Agar. 👏

After 18 months of conversations, meetings, focus groups, surveys and advisory group sessions to co-design a program that is driven by what regional community’s want from engagement during the transition and shaped to meet industry needs…FINALLY…. We got to pilot #RegionalConnect program this week 💥🙌🤗 It was great to put all our work through its paces and get fantastic robust feedback. Like all our work we want it to be practical and support real learning!! We now can’t wait to roll it out in 2025!! Stay tuned folks for the next steps!!! Thank you to Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) for partnering with us over this process… and supporting the pilot to happen!! And thanks to Stanwell Corporation Limited Powerlink Queensland WestWind Energy - Australia Windlab Cubico Sustainable Investments Queensland Conservation Council for volunteering as the first cohort!!! A massive shout out to John Carey who was a fabulous co-facilitator and guest expert… and to our awesome local stakeholder speakers Megan James and Gary Lees 🙌🙌 #regionalAustralia #renewables #transition #strongercommunities

Health Safety Environment (HSE) Specialist in Construction, Mining, Renewables, Gas | Advanced Expertise in Safety System Development | Auditing | Proven Leadership

Yesterday Dan Harte (FGIA) and I had the pleasure of representing Windlab at the Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) Safety and Health Forum in Brisbane. It was an impactful event, bringing together professionals from various parts of the renewable energy sector to discuss crucial safety and health issues. With insightful presentations from key figures such as Katie-Anne Mulder of QREC, and Sarah Walters of Minter Ellison, and Michelle Zaunbrecher Head of Safety, Health, Security BHP – Minerals Australia. The forum provided a comprehensive overview of both regulatory requirements and safety culture practices in the industry.   The event highlighted the pressing need for a stronger safety culture in renewables, drawing from established practices in industries like gas, as presented in the "Safer Together" framework. Actura's Andrew Russell's interactive and dynamic workshop also brought practical strategies for building safety cultures, reinforcing the importance of connecting with workers and changing mindsets.   It seems like the key takeaway was the consensus on the need for more standardized safety frameworks in the renewables sector—mirroring those in other industries—and a collective effort to ensure the safety of workers as the sector continues to grow. 👷♀️ Leadership in Safety 👷♂️ In week three of Safe Work Month, we've been talking safety leadership. Thoughtful leadership is a critical part of a protective safety culture, but we also recognise leading teams has its unique challenges. We're equipping our people with the skills, resources and support they need to influence with purpose and build collaborative, resilient teams where open communication and strong team cohesion lead to safer outcomes. Here, Windlab’s Construction Project Administrator Kristy Petrie shares her insights on how prioritising trust and transparency in teams keeps people safe on complex renewable energy construction projects. “It’s about creating an environment where ‘look out for your mates’ is more than just words on the wall – it’s a natural part of how we operate. “When teams know they can speak up without fear of repercussions, that builds trust and bonds that are so protective, especially in high-hazard environments. “Leaders set the tone but ultimately safety outcomes rely on all our people actively participating—using their judgment, sharing observations, and making decisions that uphold safety standards. This is why trust and open communication are so important for a proactive safety culture. "When you have real trust and transparency in a team you’ve got people who are genuinely looking out for each other and tackling hazards together in real time, and this is the kind of leadership and courage that keeps people safe."   🔄 How do you lead by example to promote a safer workplace? #SafetyLeadership #LeadByExample #SafeWorkMonth #LeadershipInAction #TeamSafety #RenewableEnergy

🚀 Empowering South West REZ communities  Our Junction Rivers project team has been on the road in regional NSW collaborating with industry groups, employment providers, and skills and training organisations to harness local expertise for our Junction Rivers project, and shape opportunities that leave a positive legacy for the wider South West Renewable Energy Zone. The roadshow is just the start of Windlab’s long-term strategy to equip local businesses and prepare the next generation workforce to make the most of the energy transition opportunity, with benefits reaching far beyond our Junction Rivers project. Windlab Executive Director of Project Development Daryll Johnston, Approvals Director Tim Stuckey, Community Director Amreetha Kariyawasam and Community Engagement Manager Lisa Mangelsdorf dropped by the SuniTAFE Mildura campus to catch up with Senior Manager of Education Delivery Brendan 'Jack' Barry, and learn more about how Junction Rivers's partnership with the TAFE will help close local skills gaps, and provide more opportunities for First Nations peoples. 🌏⚡ For the last nine weeks, renewable energy could have met 100% of Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) demand.   Leading wind energy expert Dr David Osmond, who has been with Windlab since day one, has been running a simulation of the NEM using actual electricity demand in near real-time for more than three years. It's shown that a grid powered almost entirely by renewables is well within reach and requires less battery storage than you might think.   The results show that a scaling up of wind and solar generation, firmed up by five hours of battery storage alongside existing hydro could result in a grid powered by 98.5% renewables.   The NEM currently sources about 38% of its electricity from renewables. Dave's incredible side project shows that surpassing 95% renewable energy within 15 years is achievable. Robust policy support, strong collaboration between industry, government and stakeholders and the timely rollout of key transmission projects are the keys to making this vision a reality.    Check out this article on RenewEconomy to read more about Dr Dave Osmond's three-year fact-finding mission: https://lnkd.in/gF4CDBF7

As we close out the second week of Safe Work Month, we're reflecting on the small actions we can all take that make a big difference. 👩🔬 👨💻 👷♀️ Safety Starts With Us From our scientists and engineers in our offices, to our land managers travelling on our nation's outback roads, to our construction directors supervising contractors on remote sites, staying aware of our surroundings and clocking changes in our environment is one of the most effective ways we keep ourselves and our workmates safe. Reporting potential hazards, taking the time to properly check equipment, or simply stopping for a few minutes to think, observe, or ask a question if something doesn't seem right can change everything. It's not always comfortable and it's rarely fun. But taking care of the little things at work protects us for the big things that matter in our lives beyond the site gate or the office door. 💡 Safety is a collective responsibility. What’s one simple thing you can do today to improve safety in your workplace? #SafeWorkMonth #SafetyStartsWithYou #WorkplaceSafety #HazardID #SafetyCulture
