For their recent Community Day, members from the WISE Gold Coast and Tweed Heads teams volunteered to give back by donating blood to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Eight team members signed up, with five eligible to donate on the day and three planning to return soon. It was a great chance for the team to represent WISE and support a necessary cause in our community. Thanks to these efforts, the Gold Coast and Tweed team has made six donations so far—helping to save 18 lives! 👏💪

The recent Community Connect event at Lake Haven Recreation Centre was a great success! Hosted by our Lake Haven, The Entrance, and Wyong WFA teams, the event showcased our collaborative partners to the local community. With over 40 stakeholders in attendance, ranging from Registered Training Organisations, employers, community groups, and First Nations organisations, the event provided a wonderful platform for the local Central Coast community to gain information on courses and upskilling opportunities available, resume assistance from Interskills & WISE Employment, apprenticeships & traineeships, assistance from Services Australia, NSW Revenue, and much more. A special thanks to The Glen Boys for opening with two cultural dances and to Garry Purchase, proud Aboriginal man of Dharawal, Bidjigal and Dhungutti descent, for donating his time and artwork skills on the day. We look forward to seeing the community painting displayed at Lake Haven soon!

Congratulations to our Hornsby and Ryde customers who recently completed the Retail Service Experience program! Over the 5-day course run by genU, they focused on creating a pop-up shop, gaining practical experience in customer service, merchandising, and using live EFTPOS machines. This program provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to gain hands-on experience and build confidence in the retail industry. Upon completion, they received a Statement of Attainment for all accredited units 💪

WISE recently completed internal NDIS training at the Mt Druitt, Parramatta, and Bankstown offices, ensuring DES staff are equipped to support customers in accessing NDIS services. Following a visit from Nicole Harrop, GM of NDIS at WISE, and COO Stephen Andrews, who shared their vision of creating meaningful impact and better outcomes for customers, WISE committed to introducing three NDIS hubs co-located in Mt Druitt, Parramatta, and Bankstown DES offices. To support this, DES teams received two days of NDIS training, led by Kinzah Rehan and Jessie Martins, to help customers access comprehensive supports through dual-servicing (DES & NDIS). We're pleased to announce that the hubs are now operational and ready for NDIS enquiries and referrals via email at achieve@wiseemployment.com.au as of October 2024! #NDIS #DES #WISEEmployment #NSW

Today is the beginning of OT Week, and this year's theme is ‘Celebrating 80 years of connection’ 🕊 In line with this theme, WISE IDEA values its strong partnership with Monash University’s Department of Occupational Therapy (OT). Since 2018, WISE IDEA has hosted OT students, including those on Participatory Community Practice (PCP) placements. Earlier this year, Monash University’s Senior Lecturer & PCP Coordinator, Kirsty Pope, alongside four Masters OT PCP students, reflected on the success and impact of this ongoing collaboration at the completion of their placements. #80YearsOfConnection #OTWeek2024 #OccupationalTherapy
