Techtrails STEM WA was at Balga Senior High School with 150 Year 8 and 9 Students! 🤩 🎉 Recently the Techtrails STEM WA Team kicked off the year with their First Techtrails STEM School Incursions Cluster within the Balga and Girrawheen communities and surrounding areas for 2025. 💜 The energy was electric, the students were excited, the teachers were amazed, and the Role Models championed the day with their phenomenal career journeys, real life work experience, and hands on industry activities whilst exploring 'Jobs of the Future'. The students and teachers highlights from the day, were: Kat Ross & Angie Waszewski – Space, Science & Black Holes 🌠 Kat and Angie captivated students with their deep dive into space, science, black holes, and the mysteries of the universe. They guided students through the process of searching for black holes, exploring the lifecycle of stars, and understanding the vastness of space through hands-on activities and scientific discussions. Scott McCue – Aviation & Engineering ✈️ Scott introduced students to the principles of aviation, explaining how planes achieve flight and the critical role engineers play in designing and testing aircrafts. Through interactive demonstrations and real-time lapse visuals, students experienced the complexities of aerodynamics and engineering problem-solving within the classroom. Sonny K. – Rail Infrastructure & Project Innovation 🚂 Sonny provided insight into the world of rail infrastructure, highlighting the innovations and projects shaping the future of transportation. Students learned about railway engineering, project development, and the technology behind modern rail systems, gaining a deeper appreciation for the role of infrastructure in everyday life. Eden C. – Biotechnology & Coding 🧬💻 Eden Coelho introduced students to the intersection of biotechnology and coding, demonstrating how these fields merge to drive innovation in science and technology. Through engaging activities, students explored genetic research, programming applications, and how AI and coding is revolutionising the biotech industry. Grace Redfern – Zoology & Research 🦂🐨 Grace shared her expertise in research, taxonomy, and zoology, with a special focus on pseudoscorpions and other fascinating creatures. Students learned about species classification, ecological research, and the importance of conservation. Through hands-on exploration and constructing their own creatures, they gained insights into the diverse and often overlooked world of wildlife. A huge thank you to our inspiring speaker role models, Teagen McEwan our keynote speaker on Sports, AI and Jobs of the Future, and to the amazing event team Jai Som, Alice Waters.💜 Videos of Techtrails at Balga SHS are coming soon, thanks to Andrew McKenzie. Watch this space! 🎥 We can’t wait to inspire even more young minds on their STEM journeys in the coming months. 🌏✨ #witwa #Techtrails #STEMWA #STEMpower
