Earlier this week, our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Australia, Liz Westcott spoke at the Developing Northern Australia Conference in Karratha, Western Australia. The three-day conference delved into topics like sustainable development, mining and the government’s priorities for the region. Liz told the conference that the Pilbara region was well positioned to play a role in progressing the energy transition, as industries work to decarbonise their operations. “We are careful of not using overblown rhetoric about our ambitions, because we recognise that there will be challenges, but we are already progressing a range of practical initiatives that can contribute to decarbonisation. “Many of those initiatives focus on this region and this community, where there has always been a can-do attitude and a recognition that when community and government work alongside industry, great things are possible. “The Pilbara community has been with us every step of the way through the past, present and now into the future. We have grown together. And we look forward to continuing to build on four decades of genuine connection and collaboration as we progress through the energy transition.”

Yesterday, our SVP Scarborough, Michael Robinson had the pleasure to help officially open Marine Rescue Exmouth new berth and floating pontoon which were funded by the Woodside-operated Scarborough Joint Venture. The event also marked the formal naming and launch of the group’s new rescue vessel, the Ningaloo Guardian. Exmouth Volunteer Marine Rescue Commander, Josh Koontz said that having this custom-built berth situated in Exmouth Marina enables faster response times in critical situations. A big thank you and appreciation to all the volunteers in Exmouth for their tireless efforts as emergency responders. It has been our pleasure to collaborate with Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA on this project. Our thanks to Hon. Peter Foster MLC and Kevin Michel MLA for attending. Shire of Exmouth

Today we welcomed the 2024 intake of NETTS Program apprentices to our Mia Yellagonga Perth office 👋 Facilitated by our training partner Programmed Training Services, the National Energy Technician Training Scheme (NETTS) is a collaboration between several industry operators, including Woodside, to provide apprenticeship and employment pathways. The first-year apprentices took a break from their training at South Metropolitan TAFE's Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training (ACEPT) to meet with Woodsiders from across our business. Our team members valued the opportunity to spend time connecting with the apprentices and share a little about their operational experience and career paths. The apprentices will spend their first year at ACEPT, building the skills and knowledge for a successful career in the sector before gaining hands-on experience on assets operated by Woodside and our industry peers.

Tomorrow marks 40 years since domestic gas production commenced across the North West Shelf Project. On 16 August 1984, the first gas from our offshore North Rankin A platform was sent to the newly commissioned Karratha Gas Plant, sending it down the Dampier to Bunbury Pipeline to keep lights on and power industry throughout the state. As we approach four decades of providing reliable energy to Western Australia, Woodside continues to play its part in delivering the domestic gas the state needs, having supplied the equivalent of 37% of our LNG export volumes to the WA market to date. Our North West Shelf Project operations have and will continue to play an important role in the state’s economic prosperity, supporting employment, investment with local WA businesses and the taxes that help to fund essential services we rely on like schools and hospitals. Our growth projects will build on our long-standing history of contribution. The Scarborough Energy Project is set to deliver gas from 2026 and is already supporting valued community partnerships and awarding billions in local contracting opportunities.

Our CEO Meg O'Neill visited the Pluto Train 2 site last week and saw firsthand the progress we are making on the Scarborough Energy Project. As of 5 August we had 31 of the 51 modules that will make up Pluto Train 2 set in place. “It’s truly thrilling to see the Pluto Train 2 modules on site and the Scarborough Energy Project advancing,” Meg said. “The progress being made is a clear demonstration of Woodside’s ability to safely execute large-scale integrated projects.” “It’s also showcasing the extensive technical capabilities within our expert teams.” “Thank you to everyone I met on site and all the Woodsiders and contractors making this project a reality.” “I can’t wait to come back and see the next stage of progress.” As the Pluto Train 2 modules are set in place, the next phase of the construction work involves the progressive, safe integration of the modules, to form the facility.
