🚨 Breaking News: Critical Nature Laws are at further risk this week! 🚨 This week the Government is rushing through legislation that would further weaken nature laws – prioritising industry over scientific concerns and setting a dangerous precedent. We are urging the government to reconsider these proposed amendments and protect nature. This is another example of why our environment laws need an overhaul. You have helped us to advocate for stronger nature laws to protect Aussie wildlife. So far, over 43,000 WWF-Australia supporters have raised their voice to support these critical reforms. This is a critical moment to have your say and call on your leaders to Choose Nature and fix our failing nature laws. Your voice matters. 👉 Send a message now to your political leaders urging them to Choose Nature: https://lnkd.in/gr_JN_sf 📢: Anthony Albanese Tanya Plibersek Chris Bowen MP Nicole M. 🌳 Forests are among the most valuable assets we have — yet they are often overlooked. They clean our air, purify our water, provide medicinal resources, and regulate our climate. They are essential to global health, food security, and economic stability. On this International Day of Forests, let’s recognise the role forests play in our lives and economies. Protecting them is protecting our future. #InternationalDayOfForests #Sustainability #ClimateAction #ConservationMatters #ChooseNature

A remarkable discovery on Lungtalanana Island! 🌱 For decades, no one had seen an echidna here, and after the devastating 2014 wildfire, it was feared they had disappeared completely. But while reviewing thousands of trail camera images, Pakana Rangers made an incredible discovery: a trimanya (echidna in palawa kani) still survives on the island! Now, rangers are working to find out: is this Australia’s loneliest echidna, or could there be more? This sighting is part of a broader cultural restoration project led by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, working to heal Country through the removal of invasive species, the return of culturally significant wildlife, and the reinstatement of Traditional land management, including cultural burning. 📸 Read more about this important work here: https://lnkd.in/gfFEyUWw #Restoration #Conservation #WWFAustralia

Sea turtle hatchlings rely on natural light from the moon and stars to guide them safely to the ocean. 🐢 But bright artificial lights from buildings and streetlights can disorient them, making their journey even harder. Conservation efforts around the world focus on reducing light pollution near nesting beaches to protect these little ones on their first big adventure. A simple action — like shielding lights or turning them off — can make a world of difference for the next generation. 💙 #TurtleTuesday #MarineLife #OceanConservation #Turtles

Fewer than 100 Irrawaddy dolphins remain in the Mekong. Once found throughout the river, these unique and charismatic dolphins are now restricted to just a 120km stretch between Stung Treng and Kratie, Cambodia. Their survival is threatened by bycatch, habitat destruction, and illegal fishing. That’s why Climate Resilient by Nature is supporting WWF-Cambodia to work with local fisheries and promote sustainable fishing practices — helping to protect both livelihoods and this critically endangered species. Now, a team of Khmer and international conservationists is taking on an extraordinary challenge: a relay swim down the Mekong River. Along the way, they will document dolphin sightings and collect vital data to support conservation efforts! 🏊 📢 Learn more and follow their journey: https://lnkd.in/eymr7mtP #TheDolphinSwim #MekongRiver #Conservation #Dolphins #Cambodia
