Green thumbs up for Mont Albert! 🌿 A local landcare group, the Mont Albert Village Gardening Group (MAVGG) is bringing a green corridor back to life, with the help of our community grant! They've been working hard to replant and restore native vegetation, making their suburb even more beautiful. Our grant will help them buy a trailer and a water-efficient irrigation system, so they can keep their community garden thriving. It's awesome to see communities come together to make a real difference for their local environment. We're proud to support groups like MAVGG who are making Mont Albert and surrounding areas greener and more vibrant! We've teamed up with Mitcham Community House to give their garden a glow-up ahead of their 50 year celebration! 🌿 Backed by our community grant and some elbow-grease, staff volunteers and members of the community joined forces to revitalise the garden, building habitats and planting over 150 trees. It's the 2nd time we have visited in the past 6 months, this time with over 40 staff volunteers turning up to lend a hand. We're passionate about supporting vibrant community hubs like Mitcham Community House, where families connect and thrive. Part of this includes a day of #volunteer leave for our staff, so they can give back to communities that bring us together. Happy 50th, Mitcham Community House! Did you know that Victoria just had its driest summer in more than a decade? ☀️ It contributed to Melbourne’s water supplies falling 12.3% in the year to February - the sharpest annual decline since the peak of the Millennium Drought. By the end of summer, Melburnians were using 5.5% more water compared to the same time last year. Water connects us all. 💧 This #WorldWaterDay, we're celebrating our partnership with Indonesia's PDAM Tirta Musi. Entering its 3rd year, this partnership aims to strengthen climate change resilience by helping Tirta Musi implement sustainable solutions. We’re sharing knowledge and solutions to tackle some of the biggest water challenges - reducing water loss, improving energy efficiency, strengthening climate resilience, and creating safer, more inclusive workplaces. It's not just about what we share - this partnership gives our staff learning and mentoring opportunities, while helping us strengthen our strategies to secure future water supplies. Our team has valued the opportunity to participate and share our approaches to different aspects of our asset operations. Did you know the WELS scheme (Water Efficiency & Labelling Standards) has been helping Australians make smart choices for 20 years? 🎉 From taps to washing machines, these star ratings make it easy to pick water-efficient appliances.🚰⭐ Across Australia, 8 in 10 people use WELS ratings, saving water and reducing bills! We're proud to support this scheme, which has helped save over 1,800 gigalitres of water – that's like filling 1,200 MCGs! 🏟️ We all have a responsibility to use water wisely, and it goes to show, if we each save a little, we all save a lot. Let's give the WELS scheme a gold star for helping us make every drop count! 💧 🌟 Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water

Our Aboriginal Partnerships Project Manager Keedan Rigney talks to Australian Water Association about how our cultural learning approach integrates reconciliation, self-determination and caring for Country into our 2030 Strategy, to build cultural safety and best practice engagement with First Peoples. "It is a framework that will constantly change and evolve. We don’t want to fall into the trap of thinking the work we have done in this space is good enough. Instead, we’re building a baseline, a foundation that needs continuous improvement,” Keedan explains. This #InternationalWomensDay we continue to #MarchForward for progress. 📣 This year's theme, "March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls," marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a bold vision for gender equality that outlines women's empowerment. Since then, there have been many barriers broken, policies reshaped, and global movements ignited. Despite this progress, the promises made remain largely unfulfilled for millions of women worldwide and more needs to be done. We're committed to building a more equitable and inclusive environment, where everyone can belong and thrive together. 📣 Learn how: https://lnkd.in/gBc7Ab-Z
