The Urban Developer has called it one of the biggest projects underway this year, and the #Yurika team are excited to continue playing our part in 2025. The Clarke Creek Wind Farm is an enormous undertaking that will produce enough electricity to power around 330,000 Queensland homes and avoid 738,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. Our teams have been a critical part of the Electrical Balance of Plant (#eBoP) design and construction of the wind turbines, substations, overhead and underground powerlines. When it comes to extreme weather events in Queensland, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. Get ready in 3 simple steps. 1. Understand your risk Queensland commonly experiences floods, storms, cyclone and storm surges and, bushfires. Everyone's disaster risk is different. Where you live determines the types of natural disasters that affect you. 2. Make a plan Make a household severe weather emergency plan so your family knows what to do and who to contact in extreme weather. It takes just a few minutes and will give you peace of mind that your information is in one place. 3. Pack a kit Think about packing enough basics to last you at home for three days. Consider long life food and toiletries in case you can’t get to the shops, drinking water in case the water supply stops working, and batteries, a torch and a radio in case the power goes out. Building powerline infrastructure at an operational mine site was made easier with innovative new drone technology by Infravision. With the pulling capability of a traditional helicopter stringing process, drone powerline stringing is safer, faster, more efficient and has fewer environmental impacts. #Yurika Project Manager, Mitch Turner was excited to find the first use of drone stringing saved time and labour and was a safe and unobtrusive process that overcame steep, rocky terrain. “We pride ourselves on innovation and doing what we can to make the work we do safer for everyone. “We used the drones to string 12 long spans of overhead conductor and attach line safety markers - it was an absolute game-changer,” he said.
