🙏🏼 Thank you, BSAS - British Society of Animal Science, for inviting EFFAB - European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders to present and participate in your event on #GeneEditing in farm animals. From science, ethics, and regulatory approaches, the meeting provided important, well-rounded discussions. 💡 Our Director Ana Granados Chapatte contributed by sharing insights from the ongoing regulatory landscape in Europe and globally. 🧬 #GeneEditing in animals is a potential additional tool in Farm Animal breeders' toolbox, and it is essential to have appropriate discussion around it. 🎯 Improving resistance to animal diseases and animal welfare are the most promising applications for supporting sustainable livestock and aquaculture farming
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Manchester today for the 'gene editing farm animals' conference. Discussing, exploring, challenging and collaborating takes us further than siloed approaches and we are very grateful to our speakers and delegates for bringing their knowledge and energy to this important topic 👏👏 Roslin Institute Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute Teagasc University of Nottingham AHDB - Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board SRUC School of Veterinary Medicine SRUC EFFAB - European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders Pig Improvement Company (PIC) - Europe #genediting #animalscience

🤔Why is prioritizing high-quality nutrition in calves so important? In Feed & Additive Magazine’s November issue, we discuss how through innovative research, the HoloRuminant project emphasises how early dietary interventions can improve a calf’s health, immune system, and productivity throughout its life.🐮 💡By understanding and optimizing the rumen microbiome through targeted dietary interventions, we aim to enhance nutrient absorption and overall health. It was not easy bringing a cow to Croke Park… 🏉🥵 But we did it! 🥳 Joke apart (but thank you VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre for the cow and the spectometer) 🤣 we are having a great time at the #NWEAnnualEvent in Dublin along with more than 400 registered participants. Julie Leblois, together with a local Irish farmer, presented the project during the breakout session on “Sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems”. This interactive presentation was a great opportunity to gather feedback from participants and to share our vision about the future of dairy farming 🐮 At our stand, we are talking about the project and answering all your questions, don't hesitate to come by 👋🏻 The networking opportunity throughout this two-day event is amazing to bring cooperation to the next level! 🚀 Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) - Ready, get set, cooperate!
