📢 Commentary | Russia’s threat to Europe goes beyond the battlefields of Ukraine Russia’s aggression extends far beyond Ukraine, with sabotage, cyberattacks, election interference, and military threats targeting the EU and NATO. Yet, the EU still lacks a long-term strategy to counter Moscow’s revisionism and influence. In a new commentary, Juraj Majcin argues that the EU must move beyond its reactive stance and adopt a coherent strategy based on three key pillars: 1️⃣ Deterrence & defence:Strengthening NATO and preventing Russian aggression in Europe 2️⃣ Supporting Ukraine: Ensuring Kyiv can resist military and political pressure 3️⃣ Containing Russian influence: Countering hybrid threats and Moscow’s influence in the Global South As the geopolitical landscape continues to shift, coalitions of the willing could be essential to advancing a stronger EU response. 📺 Compendium | Elizabeth Kuiper on Euronews Analysing Trump’s Return “Drill, baby, drill”, Donald Trump’s rallying cry during his inauguration sets the tone for a significant rollback on climate policies, with ripple effects for Europe. Speaking live on Euronews with Méabh Mc Mahon and Dr. Stefan Grobe, Elizabeth Kuiper, Associate Director at the EPC, drew attention to the potential impact of Trump’s second term on climate policy, public health, economic security, and democracy. Drawing from the EPC compendium: "Trump returns: The challenges ahead for the EU", Elizabeth discussed how the rollback of green commitments and potential US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement could undermine global climate efforts and send detrimental signals to other nations. The compendium explores how Europe must navigate these external challenges while addressing internal pressures from rising far-right movements and disinformation.
