October was a busy and fruitful month for our 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 at WMG, University of Warwick. Here is a quick snapshot of what we have been up to... 1️⃣  𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 🌟 United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Informal Working Group (IWG) on Automated Driving Regulations, hosted with the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom at the The Shard, University of Warwick - Warwick Business School. We welcomed over 50 attendees from across the world to discuss. It was a great honour to bring the global self-driving ecosystem together. 🌟 Last week, we hosted our annual 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 event. Honoured to have Feryal Clark, Minister for AI and Digital Government & Prof Sarah Sharples FREng as our keynote speakers and talked about the government's vision for Safe AI and the need for a systems approach to safety. Rt Hon Greg Clark shared his insight into policy making, especially the Industrial strategy with us at the fireside chat.   2️⃣ 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 & 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 🌟 Our brilliant PhD student Yi Zhang, presented the paper "𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐓𝐈𝐏: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐭𝐨-𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" at the prestigious European Conference on Computer Vision ECCV2024. Blown away by the FullyCharged event!   🌟 Highways UK Panel discussion Joined Dr Clare Mutzenich, Andy Fisher, Jo Evans, and Nick Fleming for an engaging discussion on incorporating Systems thinking in the development of AVs, and communicating AV and ADAS in an accurate and inclusive manner. 3️⃣ 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 🌟 We hosted our friend & partner, Prof Gregory Goh, Executive Director, A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research (Singapore) as we discussed enhancing our current collaboration with joint-PhD students 🌟 With our growing team, 22 members, 10 nationalities, we hosted our first team away day discussing new ideas for both research and research implementation. And getting to know each other up close and personal. Intense but super productive week of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regulatory discussions on Automated Driving (under GRVA's informal working group on ADS) at the Shard facilities of University of Warwick - Warwick Business School. With over 50 in-person attendees from across the world, it was an honour to host the meeting together with the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom. Brilliant chairing from Michael Braisher and Ezana Wondimneh, together with our secretary John Creamer for ensuring we got through the entire agenda and kept making progress. Huge thank you to Pete Edwards for all the support and to Morgan J. and Team Wayve for giving our delegates experience of their #selfdriving vehicle technology. As UK, we are at a crucial point on #automateddriving journey with the Automated Vehicles Act 2024 published, global alignment on our secondary legislation is essential for both the end-users and the industry. On October 10th, I-SENSEGroup/ICCS with Panagiotis Lytrivis and Bill Roungas attended the annual CCAM Multicluster Meeting in Brussels which aims to nurture CCAM partnerships and support the advancement of #CCAM in road #transport. 💡 Panagiotis Lytrivis presented EVENTSproject22 recent outcomes which may feed large-scale demonstrations. Exciting News from FUSION 2024 👏️👏️ Earlier this summer, we had the pleasure of attending the 27th International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION 2024) in beautiful Venice: fusion2024.org It was an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate, and discuss the latest cutting-edge research with leading experts in the field. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the conference—from the insightful boot camp and tutorial day to the main conference days themselves. One of the highlights was participating in the traditional FUSION 5K fun run at 6 AM, which was a great way to kick off the day 🏃♂️ Huge thanks to the organizing team, everything was on point! We are excited to applying the insights gained and driving our projects forward!
