#India and #Germany released the “Indo-German Green Hydrogen Roadmap” to promote the market ramp-up of #greenhydrogen. Both sides officially agreed and exchanged the roadmap in the presence of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 7th Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) in New Delhi. This roadmap will remain in effect for the next five years. The roadmap outlines key strategies to encourage private sector #investment, promote green hydrogen #trade and #export, and facilitate the exchange of information, particularly around challenging hard-to-abate sectors and #certification standards. Specific dialogue formats will enhance communication and cooperation, ensuring that stakeholder perspectives are considered in the decision-making process. https://lnkd.in/emYeRdUa

Together with several others industry associations, we signed a joint statement on the draft #LowCarbonFuels Delegated Act. While the European Commission's establishment of a methodology to define low-carbon fuels is a step forward, further refinements are needed to ensure it doesn't hinder Europe's #hydrogen goals: ➡Add the possibility to recognise and provide adequate proof of better performance of individual projects, at each step of the production process, for all types of #GHG. ➡Need clarification on several CCS and CSU provisions. ➡Consider the technical maturity and availability of hydrogen leakages detection technologies. ➡Create a link with the RED Union Database and encourage the Commission to ensure that the #traceability provisions defined for #renewable gases are also applicable to low-carbon gases. ➡Underline the need to ensure #regulatory certainty and clarity for project developers. ➡Encourage the Commission to facilitate a swift and efficient process of accreditation of Voluntary Certification Schemes. Regulatory clarity and swift action are critical to attracting #investments and fostering the low-carbon fuel value chain, and we stand ready to collaborate with the EU to shape policies that will accelerate the deployment of low-carbon hydrogen across Europe.

🏅💧The #EUInnovationFund has awarded grant allocation of €4.8 billion to 85 innovative projects, with #hydrogen projects making up one third of total awards. This significant funding initiative marks the largest allocation since the fund’s inception in 2020, increasing the overall support to €12 billion and expanding the number of projects by 70%. We welcomes the emphasis on hydrogen-related initiatives within this funding round. Among the awarded projects, 26 focus specifically on #hydrogentechnologies, representing 30% of the total. In the manufacturing category, five projects will deploy proton exchange membrane (PEM) #electrolysers, #fuelcells, and components; three will utilize alkaline technology; two will implement solid oxide #electrolysis cells (SOEC); one will employ anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology; and one project will focus on #hydrogenstorage. Together they are set to generate 9.3 GW of electrolyser capacity representing a substantial increase on all previous Innovation Fund projects, which were projected to deliver 2.9 GW of capacity. Meanwhile, the production projects selected in this call will deliver 61 kilo tonnes of #RFNBO annually, bringing the total yearly production supported by the Innovation Fund to 631.5 kilo tonnes of RFNBO hydrogen. The hydrogen projects are distributed across Europe with Belgium, Germany, Spain, Finland, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Estonia, Greece, and France among the recipients. Hydrogen Europe members are involved in nearly half of the awarded hydrogen projects and in several other successful consortiums. The next call for the Innovation Fund is anticipated to be launched on the 3rd of December, along with the second Innovation Fund Auction (#HydrogenBank), with the total funding amount yet to be announced. 📢 #JustPublished: "Hydrogen Infrastructure: The Recipe for a Hydrogen Grid Plan" The lack of adequate hydrogen #infrastructure is a critical challenge impairing the development of the #hydrogenmarket across Europe. To unlock the potential of #hydrogen and ensure European #decarbonisation targets are fulfilled, infrastructure will have to be developed throughout the continent to connect production to demand centres, enable imports of cheap hydrogen and provide a #resilient system through #storage capacities. In our latest publication, we explore these key insights: 1️⃣ Hydrogen infrastructure is the best solution to accelerate a cross-sectorial decarbonisation at a lower cost. 2️⃣ Hydrogen will provide the #flexibility needed to a power system dominated by #electrification and variable #renewables. 3️⃣ #Investment in hydrogen infrastructure remain relatively modest compared to power grids. 4️⃣ Producing hydrogen near the generation source makes more economic sense than converting electricity to hydrogen at the demand site. 5️⃣ An integrated hydrogen backbone is a key enabler for cost optimisation – thus protecting the #competitiveness of European energy intensive industries. 6️⃣ The hydrogen backbone is expected to grow to over 50,000 km by 2040. 7️⃣ Importing hydrogen and its derivatives is a necessity for the near-term competitiveness of the European industry and long-term system decarbonisation. 8️⃣ Shipping hydrogen derivates becomes an attractive option for distances above 3,000 km. 9️⃣ Underground hydrogen storage is critical for #energyintensive industry and the best partner for variable renewable energies. 🔟 Planning and cooperation remain key. "Building a hydrogen infrastructure is crucial for Europe to meet its 2040 #climate goals. Our report sets the guiding criteria to develop a resilient, integrated hydrogen infrastructure, paving the way for a Hydrogen Grid Action Plan. Two systems are cheaper than one: investing in hydrogen infrastructure will not only unlock the EU’s decarbonisation potential, but it will also reduce system costs, facilitate renewable integration, and provide flexibility to the electricity system whose costs are on the rise. Joint planning and cooperation among all energy infrastructure actors remains a key priority for the #energytransition." said about the publication Daniel Fraile, Chief Policy & Market Officer at Hydrogen Europe. The fragility of Europe’s #supplychains has become evident in the past years, as several crises have exposed the Bloc’s reliance on external sources for #rawmaterials, feedstocks, key strategic #components and final products. The European Union has found itself poorly equipped to cater for such challenges, facing shortages and externalisation of its industrial base. #Cleantechnologies are threatened by this scenario, and #hydrogen ones are not exempted.
