🌍 European Week of Regions and Cities 2024 🏙   This week in Brussels is the European Week of Regions and Cities, a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity, innovation, and resilience of Europe’s local and regional communities.     🗓 This annual event shines a spotlight on the incredible work happening at the regional level, where local policies meet European challenges—from sustainable development and digital transformation to climate action and social inclusion.     This week, our colleagues Jasper, Niels and Martijn had the opportunity to welcome and host a delegation from Regio Zwolle from the Northeastern part of the Netherlands to discuss policy perspectives and issues surrounding agriculture, adapting to climate change, and the current political trends in Europe.     Mayors and aldermen from the region discussed problems and potential solutions with stakeholders from the European Commission, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU and the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG ), among others.    At Publyon EU, we are dedicated to enhancing the engagement of European cities and regions with key stakeholders, fostering stronger coordination and cooperation across Europe. By doing so, we aim to address EU challenges at a regional and social level, helping to create a more connected and resilient future for all Europeans.    Our team is committed to using our expertise to help regions and cities navigate the impact of EU policies, ensuring their voices are heard in Brussels and that their concerns are effectively addressed.    🎉 As we celebrate this week, let’s continue our efforts toward regional cohesion and building a brighter future for everyone in Europe.   How are you planning to get involved? Let’s connect and share ideas!    #EURegionsWeek #EuropeanRegions #Sustainability #RegionalDevelopment

𝗕𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘣, (/ ˈbʌb əl /) a newly coined term (yes, by us) that refers to the fine art of networking, mingling, and actively engaging in discussions within the renowned EU bubble. It’s what our colleagues at Publyon excel at and we’re eager to share some valuable insights on their behalf. Today, our Director Cathy Kremer and Senior Consultant Victoria-Eliza Druță were bubbling around at the POLITICO Europe's #PoliticoCompetitiveWeek session on economic security. From Pascal Lamy to Enrico Letta to representatives from the European institutions and Member States, the event featured a great series of panel discussing geopolitics, economic security, Europe’s critical assets and more pressing issues facing the EU, all from different stakeholders' perspectives. The EU, though not as heavily trade reliant as China, remains fundamentally integrated into the global economy, making a full-scale decoupling unrealistic and detrimental to its interests. In this sense, the EU's trade policy must remain open. Derisking, however, begs the question on what exactly the EU's common risks are and how the EU should respond to it. This highlights the urgent need for a robust Economic Security Strategy, anchored in the three pivotal pillars: Protect, (and especially) Promote and Partner. 📩 Get in touch if you want to meet us at the next event!

🕥 The wait is over — Mario Draghi’s report has been officially released, right at the start of a new political cycle.  A step back: in 2023, the European Commission and Council of the EU tasked former President of the European Central Bank and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi to draft a report outlining a vision for Europe's economic future amid current geopolitical challenges. His report, released yesterday, presents a roadmap to boost the resilience of European economy 📈   Draghi identifies three key transformations that the EU has to address to remain competitive:  📌 Bridging the innovation gap; 📌 Decarbonising while staying competitive;  📌 Reducing reliance on external powers.     Achieving these goals requires massive public and private investments, streamlined regulations, and better coordination among EU Member States.     We asked our senior colleagues Cathy Kremer, Victoria-Eliza Druță and Niels van den Ouden for their expert opinions on the report, focusing on their areas of expertise — digital, sustainability, transport and energy. Here's what they have to say 👇 🔎 Do you want to understand how this report may impact your business? You can contact us at eu@publyon.com
