In the EU, a proactive approach to promote and defend the #RuleOfLaw is at the heart of its success. This is also in line with the views and expectations of EU citizens. According to our Special Eurobarometer published today: ➡️ More than 7 in 10 EU citizens agree that the EU plays an important role in helping to uphold the rule of law in their country. ➡️ Close to 9 in 10 EU citizens consider important that all EU Member States respect the core values of the EU. ➡️ The feeling of being informed about the EU’s fundamental values has improved significantly in many countries. ➡️ 51% of EU citizens feel well informed about the EU’s fundamental values and 53% about the rule of law specifically. The EU is aiming to make it a thing of the past. ✅ The EU has been a frontrunner in labour equality since the 1970s to ensure men and women receive equal treatment at work. ✅ Every EU country now has employment laws to ensure fair recruitment, pay transparency, and protection of pregnant and breastfeeding workers. ✅ We also extended maternity and paternity leave provisions across the EU.
