In the EU, a proactive approach to promote and defend the #RuleOfLaw is at the heart of its success. This is also in line with the views and expectations of EU citizens. According to our Special Eurobarometer published today: ➡️ More than 7 in 10 EU citizens agree that the EU plays an important role in helping to uphold the rule of law in their country. ➡️ Close to 9 in 10 EU citizens consider important that all EU Member States respect the core values of the EU. ➡️ The feeling of being informed about the EU’s fundamental values has improved significantly in many countries. ➡️ 51% of EU citizens feel well informed about the EU’s fundamental values and 53% about the rule of law specifically. 5 years on, the #RuleOfLaw Report shows that 5 countries are better prepared to detect, prevent, and address rule of law challenges. 2024 report finds that EU countries followed-up on 68% of the recommendations made by European Commission in 2023, but concerns also remain.
