Highlights from the final pitch event of the 'Mastercard Challenge on Financial Inclusion for the SDGs | Solving for the Future' which was held on the sidelines of Bahrain’s flagship fintech event, Bahrain Fintech Forward 2024. After months of dedication, the five finalists presented their innovative solutions to a high-level judging panel that included Ms. Shamina Singh, President and Founder of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth and Executive Vice President of Sustainability at Mastercard, and Shaikh Mohamed Al Khalifa, CEO of Beyon Digital. These groundbreaking solutions offered data-driven solutions which can help accelerate progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through financial inclusion as a key enabler. During the final pitch event, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, a renowned expert in economic development, who serves as the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and is also the President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) delivered an intervention, highlighting the critical role of youth empowerment in achieving the SDGs and underscoring the need to support young leaders as catalysts for change. We are pleased to announce that “Hayat” is the winning solution of the Mastercard Challenge on Financial Inclusion for the SDGs, held under the theme ‘Solving for the Future’. During the final pitch which was held on the sidelines of Bahrain’s flagship fintech event, ‘Bahrain Fintech Forward Fintech Forward 2024,’ at Exhibition World Bahrain, five solutions were evaluated, each presenting innovative ideas and data-driven solutions which can help accelerate progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through financial inclusion as a key enabler. “Hayat”, the groundbreaking solution is a carbon offsetting platform and was developed by students Ahmed Alawadhi and Maria Alabbasi from the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), along with Matia Ahmed from Bahrain Polytechnic. The "Hayat" platform seeks to enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain's efforts in climate action by building strong partnerships and encouraging community participation. Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth The BENEFIT Company Tamkeen StartUp Bahrain Beyon Shamina Singh يسعدنا أن نعلن عن تتويج مشروع "حياة" بالفوز المستحق في مسابقة تحدي ماستركارد للشمول المالي لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة، المقام تحت شعار "الحلول من أجل المستقبل"، وذلك خلال الحفل الختامي للمسابقة والذي أقيم على هامش منتدى مستقبل التكنولوجيا المالية 2024 في مركز البحرين الدولي للمعارض. حيث تم تقييم خمسة حلول مبتكرة تستند على البيانات لتعزيز الشمول المالي وتسريع وتيرة تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة. وقد حصلت منصة "حياة" على لقب الفائز في المسابقة، وهي منصة تهدف إلى تعويض انبعاثات الكربون، تم تطويرها من قبل كل من الطالب أحمد العوضي والطالبة ماريا العباسي من معهد البحرين للدراسات المصرفية والمالية (BIBF)، والطالبة ماتيا أحمد من جامعة بوليتكنك البحرين. وتسعى منصة "حياة" إلى تعزيز جهود مملكة البحرين في العمل المناخي من خلال بناء شراكات قوية وتشجيع الشراكة المجتمعية.
