K2 Brazil are celebrating the anniversary of the founding of São Paulo, which turns 470 years old today! On 25th January 1554, the city was founded as a religious mission and a Jesuit Royal College by priests José de Anchieta and Manuel da Nóbrega. Today, São Paulo is home to over 12 million people, is the largest Portuguese-speaking city in the world, and is renowned globally for its intoxicating carnival atmosphere and its unique cultural mix of European influence and indigenous heritage. To commemorate São Paulo's anniversary, exhibitions, concerts and a multitude of celebrations are taking place across the city. Walkers Post: Day #11: Today sees our walkers reaching Everest Base Camp! It's been a long and arduous journey, one which has taken our courageous K2 colleagues through Lukla, Tok Tok, Namche Bazaar, Deboche, Dingboche, Loboche and Gorakshep, climbing to a height of 5,357m above sea level.
