🌱 I'm prepping to hire for 2025 at A Greener Future 🌱 I'm excited to announce that we'll be looking for 8-10 passionate young people (18+) to join our seasonal team, working along the shores of Lake Ontario between Hamilton and Oshawa from April to September 2025. Last year, we received over 250 applications and conducted 80+ interviews. While I met some incredible individuals, the process was time-consuming, and unfortunately, we couldn’t hire everyone. This year, I’m changing things up: - I’ll be reaching out to top candidates from last year to offer them another opportunity to interview. - Before posting the positions publicly, I’m seeking recommendations from my network. If you know someone who is passionate about the environment, has a great attitude, and can lead litter cleanups, please connect us! Also, I’d love book recommendations on leading a fast-paced team, addressing eco-anxiety, and making our summer efforts as impactful as possible—for both the environment and our team. 📚 Looking forward to an impactful 2025! 🌍 #Hiring #EnvironmentalJobs #Leadership #AGreenerFuture #EcoJobs

🌍 It's Waste Reduction Week! 💡 Today is Repair Monday, which reminds us that fixing something is often a better solution than throwing it away. By repairing instead of replacing, we help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep useful items out of landfills! 💡 Tomorrow is Textile Tuesday, which reminds us to shop with sustainability and longevity in mind! 💡 Next is E-Waste Wednesday, which reminds us to repair, recycle or return used electronic devices instead of discarding them into landfills! Did you know that litter cleanups can do more than just beautify our communities? Cleanups help us understand the bigger picture of waste management. By tackling single-use items and wasteful habits, we can encourage circular economy practices like reducing, reusing, and buying second-hand. ♻️ The data collected from cleanups also sheds light on the types of waste we’re seeing the most and how we can change our behavior for a more sustainable future. 💚 #CircularEconomy #LitterCleanup #SustainableLiving #WasteReduction #AGreenerFuture

Earlier this year, artist Katherine Roesler used pieces of plastic from our litter cleanups to create this art piece for the team at 407 ETR. Take a closer look and see what identifiable objects you might find!
At 407 ETR, we're committed to fostering a sustainable future and promoting biodiversity through our green initiatives. In line with this commitment, we have partnered with A Greener Future and the talented artist Katherine Roesler to create a remarkable art piece titled "The Butterfly Effect." This captivating piece of art is a testament to the power of creativity and environmental consciousness. Crafted entirely from recycled plastic, including litter collected by our dedicated employees during our annual One Big Day volunteer cleanup, "The Butterfly Effect" serves as a powerful symbol of the impact we can have on our planet through collective efforts and innovative repurposing. We’re thrilled to showcase this beautiful piece at the 407 ETR office, where it will serve as a constant reminder to our employees of the importance of sustainability and the positive change we can create together. We extend our sincere gratitude to Katherine Roesler and A Greener Future for their invaluable partnership in bringing this meaningful project to life. Together, we are taking strides towards a greener, more sustainable future, one step at a time. Learn more about our environmental practices: https://brnw.ch/21wNGS9

Most plastics are designed for single use, which not only wastes resources but also harms ecosystems. Plastic pollution is a key consequence of the linear model, resulting in over 400 million tons of plastic waste produced annually, much of which ends up in oceans, landfills, and ecosystems where it accumulates. By replacing single-use plastics with reusable or sustainable alternatives, we can significantly decrease the amount of waste entering the environment. Here’s how you can help: 💡 Choose reusable over single-use plastics. 💡 Support businesses innovating with sustainable alternatives. 💡 Participate in local cleanups or plastic reduction initiatives to make a direct impact. We can make a difference by embracing a circular economy and reducing plastic pollution! 🌱 - #CircularEconomy #PlasticPollution #WasteReduction #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendlyChoices #AGreenerFuture #ChooseReusable
