ACS Group and Hochtief Announce the Creation of Flatiron Dragados, a Leading Civil Engineering Company in North America   Spain, 30th of July 2024 — Dragados North America, a subsidiary of ACS Group, and Flatiron, a subsidiary of Hochtief, are proud to announce their integration under a unified brand, Flatiron Dragados. This new entity will continue serving clients across diverse markets and enhancing community and stakeholder relationships. The integration combines the strengths of both companies, forming the second-largest civil engineering and construction firm in the United States. ACS Group will hold 61.8% ownership, while Hochtief will own 38.2% of the Flatiron Dragados company. The new company will be managed by Peter Davoren as Chairman, who also serves as Chairman, CEO & President of Turner, and Javier Sevilla Roca, the current CEO of Flatiron, as CEO. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2024. Flatiron Dragados has a robust backlog of USD 17.2 billion as of H1 2024, reflecting significant market presence and capacity. The combined revenue for 2023 was USD 6.1 billion, with USD 3.1 billion recorded in H1 2024. The company boasts a long-standing presence in 24 States in the United States and eight Canadian provinces. Integrating Dragados and Flatiron in North America aims to streamline the Group's engineering and construction activities and foster better relationships with stakeholders. This will result in a better-quality offering for clients, a low-risk commercial approach, and higher profitability for shareholders. Celebrating Excellence at the 2024 CARE Awards Ceremony! On May 23rd, the Dragados Co-op program marked an important occasion at the 2024 CARE Awards held at Concordia University in Montreal. We are thrilled to announce that our co-op, Timofei Shabliuk, was awarded the prestigious Chenfeng Huang Memorial Scholarship! This scholarship recognizes undergraduates who exemplify personal accountability, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity, thanks to the unwavering support of their mentors. Timofei's acceptance speech was a heartfelt tribute to the incredible support he received from the Dragados team, notably Amr Soliman, and his manager, the commercial director, David Espino. Francisco Corbacho, representing Dragados, was there to support Timofei at the ceremony, which included the awards reception as well as a lively panel discussion with representatives from various Quebec-based engineering and construction companies, all in a room full of engaging young engineers – the next generation of industry leaders. Last week, Dragados Canada hosted an insightful lessons learned session focused on LRT construction projects, bringing together personnel from key projects like the Eglington Crosstown LRT (Toronto), Finch West LRT (Toronto), Purple Line (Maryland), Réseau express métropolitain (REM Montreal), along with our Precontracts Department in Toronto. We delved into the nuances of design, construction, and operation, garnering invaluable insights for future endeavors. The collaborative atmosphere was palpable, with all participants acknowledging the session’s immense value. These lessons learned will be instrumental in enhancing our approach not only to LRT projects but also dams, ports, bridges, and more, giving Dragados Canada a competitive edge in delivering exceptional results to our clients by providing real examples of both successful strategies and challenges in previous cases. Moving forward, we are committed to continuing this knowledge-sharing approach across various project types, ensuring transparency and excellence every step of the way. We are thrilled to announce that SkyLink Guideway Partners has been selected by the Province of British Columbia as the preferred proponent for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project: Guideway Contract. As part of SkyLink Guideway Partners, Dragados Canada is proud to collaborate with Ledcor and Systra, combining our expertise to drive this project forward. The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will deliver a 16-kilometre extension of the Expo Line from King George Station to Langley City Centre, marking the first rapid transit expansion south of the Fraser River in three decades. Upon completion, this project will offer efficient, affordable transportation for residents of Surrey, Langley, and the wider Metro Vancouver area. Major construction on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is scheduled to commence this year.
