𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 As we celebrate the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, we look back on last week’s insightful discussion from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Net Zero Imperative series, where Edge Consultants proudly collaborated with industry partners on Vancouver’s new GHG emissions reporting bylaw. Business in Vancouver (BIV News) captured the conversation beautifully, underscoring the importance of mandatory reporting as a foundational step toward substantial GHG emissions reductions. In the article, Eoghan Hayes, PEng, BEMP, Edge’s technical expert in decarbonization, stressed the importance of a data-driven and strategic approach to decarbonization: “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒘-𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒃𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏? 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔. 𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒆, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒅𝒐 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅.” It’s clear that simply reporting emissions isn’t enough. We need comprehensive, data-backed decarbonization plans that prioritize smart retrofits, enhance asset values, and fuel the change required to meet global climate targets. #EdgeConsultants #NetZero #Decarbonization #ClimateAction #GHGEmissions #SustainableBuilding #VancouverBylaw #GreenBuilding #Environment https://lnkd.in/gxst_Bp6
