I'm happy to share that my Master's research has just been published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering. The article "Challenges of Decarbonizing Aviation via Hydrogen Propulsion: Technology Performance Targets and Energy System Trade-Offs" highlights the need for ambitious design improvements in hydrogen fuel cells and storage for aviation, and assesses power infrastructure growth together with hydrogen supply chain network options that would be required in a European case study. I would like to thank my co-authors and collaborators; Dharik Mallapragada for his continued guidance, Yang Shao-Horn for her support, and Florian Allroggen for his contributions. This work motivated me to continue my career in energy system modelling with ESMIA and I'm looking forward to eventually deepening this analysis: an array of solutions will likely be needed (e.g., biofuels, e-fuels, hydrogen), each with their own benefits and regional limitations that can be further explored with an economy-wide model. #optimization #modelling #energy #hydrogen #aviation Link: https://lnkd.in/gcTuTnMX

My last week was dedicated to #H2Clip project, focusing on the Hydrogen and Climate Partnership between Canada and Germany. Alongside ESMIA Consultants and other project stakeholders, we participated in #HyFCell, an international hydrogen expo and conference in Vancouver, where we presented our modeling approaches and shared intermediate results. The remainder of the week was filled with project meetings, learning dialogues between project stakeholders and key Canadian hydrogen players such as Ballard Power Systems and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. We also had the opportunity to visit the Clean Energy Innovation Research Center at National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada. A special thanks to the NRC division in Vancouver for their exceptional planning and hospitality during the H2Clip events.
