🧡 Last year, Geoscience BC created a new Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Advisory Council to bring Indigenous leadership to Geoscience BC’s research on critical minerals and metals, geological carbon capture and storage and cleaner energy. "The creation of this new committee is significant: it will create new ways to integrate indigenous perspectives into geoscience BC’s planning, research and ways of working" said Lana Eagle's Geoscience BC Chair of the Board, Indigenous Relations Strategist. Reconciliation begins with learning and understanding the history of Canada’s role in the oppression of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples and about the reverberations of these actions on future generations. Today marks the beginning of Truth and Reconcilliation Week dedicated to providing education on these very topics and more as part of the call to action outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
