The City of Calgary's next LRT line and largest infrastructure investment in history.
About us
The Green Line is the City of Calgary's next light rail transit (LRT) line. It is also the largest infrastructure investment in our city’s history with $4.9 billion in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and City of Calgary. Construction is underway creating jobs today. Construction of Phase 1 will generate 20,000 jobs with opportunities for local contractors, suppliers and businesses as we build: -13 stations -18 km of LRT track - 3 park and ride facilities - 1 km of elevated track - 3 km of tunnel track - 4 LRT bridge structures - 1 LRV maintenance and storage facility The Green Line LRT Project will use modern low floor light rail vehicles (LRVs) marking an exciting step for Calgary’s transit network. Low floor LRV technology has been the standard in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand for decades. It is now becoming the choice for new LRT systems across Canada and the United States. The first phase of the Green Line LRT will provide seamless connections with the existing Red and Blue LRT lines and the four MAX BRT routes. Calgarians will have fast, frequent and reliable transit service to communities, employment hubs, tourist destinations and essential services. The Green Line LRT will play an important role in shaping the City’s future. It is both a transit system and a platform for long-term city building. This will encourage redevelopment and investment opportunities in Calgary businesses and communities.

With several early works projects on the go for Green Line, we invite you to watch episode two of our new behind-the-scenes construction video series, Calgary Built: The Green Line LRT. In this video, we walk through the demolition of the old Lilydale poultry plant in Ramsay to make way for the LRT alignment. Demolitions of old buildings require extensive planning, lots of technical work and a range of machines to bring them down safely. From minimizing dust and debris to diverting waste from the landfill by recycling and repurposing materials, this demolition had it all. Thanks to our partner Priestly Demolition Inc. for their stellar work! https://lnkd.in/gjdZ39My #GreenLineYYC #GreenLineLRT #Calgary

Level Up Calgary Season 3: Parks & Portals had students unlocking their creativity and innovation by transforming some of Calgary’s public spaces in Minecraft. This year, students were tasked with designing two downtown sites in Minecraft: Haultain Park and Green Line’s future 4 Street Station.🚇 The students developed unique designs that seamlessly integrated the 4 Street S.E. Station into public spaces, while keeping in mind accessibility and community integration. 🚞🛤️ Level Up Calgary is more than a design challenge, it is an opportunity for students to develop essential skills and leadership qualities, empowering future leaders and changemakers in our community.
