Here at Magellan Aerospace we will be supporting the charity WCDP, which stands for 'Wales Council for Deaf People'. This year, we will be raising money for the charity and trying to spread awareness of the amazing work they do. This week we got to meet some of the team. Cath Booth who is the Chief Executive Officer, has this to say about the work they provide; 'I became CEO of Wales Council for Deaf people in October last year, (having previously worked for the charity RNID delivering care and support services to people who are Deaf or hard of hearing for more than 31 years). We started life as the Welsh Regional Association for the Deaf in the mid1950s. The name was changed to Welsh Association for the Deaf in 1967 then Wales Council for the Deaf in 1977, the current title came into use in 2004. Wales Council for Deaf People is the major voluntary body in Wales concerned with deafness. Our registered offices are in Pontypridd, but our work extends right across Wales. We are working in the field of hearing loss and representing people who are Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and deaf/blind. Our main aim is to support all activities of benefit to people in Wales with hearing loss and enable them to lead fuller, more independent lives. This is essential as approximately 90% of people over the age of 80 will have some degree of hearing loss. Across the UK population 10 million people currently have hearing loss. In Wales that figure is around 530,000. By 2031 there will be more than 14.5 million people in the UK with hearing loss. Diagnosis of hearing loss can be somewhat hit and miss with many people not being identified soon enough. This delay in getting help can have devastating consequences – it leads to high levels of isolation and exclusion and more than doubles the risk of depression in older people. Even relatively mild hearing loss nearly doubles the risk of developing dementia'. Aequs Pvt. Ltd. has finally revealed its plans of establishing the #MROfacility in #partership with Magellan Aerospace Limited. Both the companies had signed an #MoU in June 2024 to establish an #engineMRO, but the details were awaited. According to #Aeques Chairman Aravind Melligeri the #company will establish the #turboprop #engineMRO and hire about 1,000 new #recruits by March 2026. With notable aerospace clients like Airbus, Boeing, and Safran, Aequs operates India’s first precision engineering #SEZ in Belagavi, Karnataka, offering end-to-end #manufacturingsolutions. This #SEZ contributes 60-70% of value addition to #products, supporting #profitability in both #aerospace and #consumersegments. #Aequs aims to achieve $1 billion in #revenues within five years, with $500 million targeted from its #aerospacevertical, up from the current $100 million. Here at Magellan Aerospace Wrexham, we try and support our local community as much as we can. Recently, we have sponsored a student from Abermorddu County Primary School in Flintshire, Wales. We have helped them with enough money to purchase equipment for a pit display or pitstop, for their school project, the project is an F1 car competition in schools & it's a competition with different schools in Flintshire. We have just received an email & picture from the school, the email says.. 'Thank you very much again for the sponsorship money for our F1 in schools competition. The Apex Accelerators did very well in all aspects of the competition and have successfully made it through to the North Wales Regional Finals in Denbigh.' 💙 🐾 Mindful Monday at Magellan Winnipeg – Blue Monday Just Got Better! Today, a special Mindful Monday event was held at Magellan's Winnipeg facility, focusing on both mental and physical well-being. The mission? Transform "Blue Monday" into the best Monday of the year! To kick off the day, employees enjoyed some pet therapy courtesy of K9 Advocacy Manitoba and Tails of Freedom. Adorable (and adoptable!) puppies and kittens were available for snuggles and stress relief in the cafeteria meeting space. Interacting with animals is known to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety, making this a heartwarming start to the week. In support of these amazing rescues, Magellan made a donation, and employees were encouraged to contribute as well. 🐈 🐕 Still looking to relax? Wellness on Wheels was on-site offering rejuvenating 5-minute chair massages, helping employees ease the day’s tension. 🧘🏻 Magellan also made a meaningful donation to Project 11, a mental health initiative supporting youth and adults. Created in honor of Rick Rypien, #11 of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, Project 11 promotes mental health awareness and resilience. Rick faced significant mental health challenges throughout his life until his passing in 2011. Additionally, employees were reminded of Magellan Winnipeg's excellent Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through TELUS Health | TELUS Santé. An informational display was set up to share details about the program, offering helpful tips, free consultations with counselors, and other resources to support mental well-being. The goal of the day was to prioritize wellness. Whether de-stressing with a furry friend, enjoying a relaxing massage, or learning about valuable mental health resources, this Mindful Monday truly made a positive impact. 💙

Here at Magellan Aerospace Wrexham, we have been practicing mindfulness on Mindful Monday (aka Blue Monday). We have Mindful checklists for employees to tick off, so they can practice being mindful throughout the day. We have also distributed leaflets, including a Mindful checklist, Mental health support poster & A simple guide to mindfulness in the workplace. Today we have tried to encourage our teams to sit down have a coffee or tea and really take a moment to be present. Mindfulness It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much. Paying more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you – can improve your mental wellbeing. Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help us enjoy life more and understand ourselves better. You can take steps to develop it in your own life. What is mindfulness? Mindfulness involves paying attention to what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment. It's easy to stop noticing the world around us. It's also easy to lose touch with the way our bodies are feeling and to end up living "in our heads" – caught up in our thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are driving our emotions and behavior. An important part of mindfulness is reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations they experience. This means paying attention to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment. That might be something as simple as the feel of a banister as we walk upstairs. Another important part of mindfulness is an awareness of our thoughts and feelings as they happen moment to moment. How mindfulness helps mental wellbeing Becoming more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more and understand ourselves better. When we become more aware of the present moment, we begin to experience afresh things that we have been taking for granted. Mindfulness also allows us to become more aware of the stream of thoughts and feelings that we experience, and to see how we can become entangled in that stream in ways that are not helpful. This lets us stand back from our thoughts and start to see their patterns.
