Shaun Barker and Robert G. Lee led us to some Mn-rich showings outside of Superior and are teaching our participants about carbonates and alteration that can form by introduction of magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. Such a nice compliment to our morning tour of Resolution Cu-Mo with Hamish Martin of Resolution Copper (Rio Tinto + BHP). Thanks to Hamish, Shaun, and Rob for the great day! Our SC132 field trip visited the Miami-Inspiration porphyry copper cluster today, which is a series of supergene deposits now owned and operated by Freeport-McMoRan. We started with an excellent presentation from Simone Runyon and were led around the field by Michelle Montague, Matthew Wetzel, and several members of the local Miami team. Day 2 of MDRU - Mineral Deposit Research Unit SC132: Distal footprints and characteristics of porphyry deposits in Arizona field trip took us to Old Dominion and Copper Cities. A big thank you to BHP including Adam Gorecki and team for a fantastic day on the rocks!

Day 1 is in the books for MDRU - Mineral Deposit Research Unit's field course SC132: Distal footprints and characteristics of porphyry deposits in Arizona! Today we introduced the group to the regional geologic setting of Arizona, general characteristics of porphyry copper systems, and the potential relationship between the Schultze granite and deposits in the Globe-Miami district. What a great way to set the stage for project visits in the week to come. Thanks to Robert G. Lee and all of our participants for a great day.
