Je suis ravie de partager le rapport sur l'impact économique auquel j'ai eu l'honneur de collaborer et qui se concentre sur les effets des programmes de Mitacs sur les indicateurs de performance économique de ses partenaires industriels. Dirigé par Fatima Rais à la suite d'une analyse objective menée par Statistique Canada au nom de l'équipe d'Évaluation de Mitacs, ce rapport montre que Mitacs favorise la croissance, stimule la création d'emplois durables et hautement qualifiés et contribue à la prospérité économique du Canada. Talent and Partnerships for Inclusive and Collaborative Innovation. Professor of Philosophy, Director of The/La Collaborative and Convener of the Canadian Forum for Social Innovation
A very warm thank you, Mitacs and Statistics Canada | Statistique Canada for this interesting report. I have so many questions! But first, a thought. When The/La Collaborative started to think with the Mitacs Innovation Policy team about the role of talent mobilization and experiential learning in nonprofit and the importance of capacity building for innovation across the social sector, Mitacs was just starting to expand their programs in that space. That was 2018, and unfortunately, the analysis only covers the previous decades. If I were to speculate, I would wager that although they present specific challenges (which Vivien Underdown and I documented in a report on Experiential Learning in the Social Sector for the Future Skills Centre - Centre des Compétences futures in 2022), Mitacs programs may have an even more significant impact in social purpose organizations. I would even surmise that the relationships they help build between campuses and their communities lead to social and human research/knowledge partnerships that can be otherwise transformative given the scale, assets, resources and needs of these organisations. Because innovation plays a crucial role in this resource-strapped sector that is also tasked to deal with the issues that arise at the front line of societal challenges, a strategic investment around some bespoke programming could have significant return on investment. I am excited to see what we can learn, hopefully soon, when we look at the data and about the potential of adapting programming to increase impact even more in the social innovation ecosystem.
