Yesterday, Aaron W. Malone, P.E. , Peter Dreher and I had the opportunity to watch Shawmut Design and Construction fly the first of 15 hybrid timber/steel trusses, we designed, into place at the new American Repratory Theatre - Harvard University. Go team!

We are pleased to announce the topping out of the new Student Center & Dining Commons at Amherst College. This significant milestone was marked by a two-part event: a signing ceremony where students, representatives from Amherst College, and project contributors inscribed their names on the final timber panel, followed by the lifting and installation of the last beam. Distributionszentrum in Ontario in Holzbaubauweise Im Südosten der kanadischen Provinz Ontario ist im vergangenen Jahr das Tragwerk dieses sehenswerten Lagerhauses errichtet worden. Der Entwurf für die 4.500 m² große Halle in Cambrian Heigths (Greater Sudbury) stammt vom Büro D A O - Danielson Architecture Office Inc. im Auftrag von Bloomington Developments. Die Montage des Massivholz-Tragwerks (IV-HT) hat die Firma TERGOS Architecture et construction écologique vorgenommen. Die Holzbauteile (Bauholz, gerades BSH, Leimbinder und Brettsperrholztafeln) hat Nordic Structures geliefert. Sudbury (160.000 Einwohner) liegt rund 400 km nördlich von Toronto am Rande einer Bergbauregion mit Vorkommen an Nickel und Kupfer. Das teilweise zweigeschossige Gebäude mit rechteckigem Grundriss und 12 Lkw-Rampen hat eine Höhe von 9 Metern. Das Gebäude wurde in Massivholzbauweise errichtet, um den mit dem Bau verbundenen Treibhausgasausstoß zu reduzieren und gleichzeitig ein Gebäude mit dauerhaft attraktiver Struktur zu bekommen. Die Platzierung des Gebäudes auf dem Grundstück erfolgte mit Hilfe parametrischer Werkzeuge, um für die Fundamentierung so wenig Felsarbeiten wie möglich vornehmen zu müssen.
