    Insights pros: are you capturing video feedback yet when doing your research? If not, here are 4 compelling reasons why you should. (Coincidentally, they all start with a C. 😜) 1️⃣ Content. When people share on video, they naturally say more. Our research at Rival Technologies and Reach3 Insights found that participants share up to 700% on video. 2️⃣ Context. With video, you can see people’s environment, their facial expressions, their emotions, etc. More context means deeper understanding. 3️⃣ Confirmation. Videos are a good way to validate your participants and see that people are really who they say they are. (HINT: If you’re not sure about the quality of a sample provider, add a video question in your survey. The quality of videos you get from their participants will be telling…) 4️⃣ Capture.     In my 20 years in marketing, I've worked on hundreds of research projects involving customer data and feedback. These projects, while super important, are also often a huge undertaking: ❌ they involve a mind-boggling amount of data ❌ they are a logistical nightmare, requiring cross-referencing databases, wresting with SPSS, etc. ❌ they take a lot of time and expertise -- sometimes resulting in insights being generated late Today, marketers and insights pros can address these challenges head-on using AI. Thanks to tech advancements such as Rival Technologies' AI Summarizer, generating themes from a massive amount of unstructured data is not just possible — it can be done within minutes if not seconds. While I'm excited about AI's promise, I don't see it replacing #marketers and #insights pros anytime soon. As I wrote in my recent article for the CMO Alliance, creativity and the human touch will always have a role to play in generating insights and creating campaigns that resonate with audiences. After all, we are marketing to other humans. With that said, to maximize the value of AI today, marketing and insights leaders should think about a couple of key things: ✅ Experimentation. While I don’t believe AI will replace us, the humans who deftly use AI will replace those that do not. So, we must master the use of AI — something we can only do by getting our hands dirty. ✅ Training and transparency. Education and guidelines are key to ensuring people stay true to your brand. Working closely with your compliance, IT and innovation teams can ensure data security and privacy are top of mind, and your employees can navigate things like bias in AI. ✅ Data quality. AI is only as good as the data it's trained on. As Andrew Reid likes to say, “garbage in, garbage out.” Ensuring your data is accurate, clean, and up-to-date is critical for generating reliable insights. ✅ Customer-centricity. AI tools should help marketing teams better understand and engage our customers. Let’s keep the focus on enhancing the customer experience and delivering real value.     Some sweater weather 🍂 thoughts about creating a two-way conversation when it comes to insight communities. Here at Rival Technologies, many of our brand clients like to "share back" their findings with their communities. Why? Their community members feel like their voices are being heard, and the brand is effectively building a customer advisory board by letting members in on the research. Sometimes you want a "cold" read on a concept (e.g. an ad campaign) but when conducting research among a community, we find it's best to treat them like, well, a community.
