Thank you, Athabasca University, for sharing my story so beautifully.   One never truly knows where life will take them, but I am so grateful for the path I’ve traveled.   Over the past 20 years, through the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, the Alberta Women's Health Foundation, and the Women's Health Collective Canada / Association canadienne pour l’équité en santé des femmes', I’ve had the privilege of working alongside passionate advocates who share a deep commitment to improving healthcare. Together, we’ve advanced healthcare through new technology and treatment protocols, which have improved patient outcomes.   Real change happens when passionate people unite. I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of advocacy, philanthropy, and research to rewrite the future of healthcare. When you can be part of a movement that changes the trajectory of health outcomes for not just hundreds, but millions of people, that’s both humbling and deeply inspiring.   And yet, 20 years later, I find myself still asking: What’s next? How do we push further? What more can we do? Because there is always more to do—more barriers to break, facilities to modernize, lives to improve, and voices to elevate.   To every researcher, healthcare provider, donor, and advocate who has joined in this journey: thank you. Your dedication fuels progress and your vision for a better future inspires me every day.   To those in government, recognize that the larger community wants to see progress beyond org charts—hospitals like the Royal Alex need significant investment if we are to meet modern standards of acute care. This work is Herculean — but I know we can get there together.
