As Canada’s homegrown delivery network, we want to inspire the next generation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in the communities we serve. That’s why this week, we hosted our partners Tech Manitoba, along with students and recent graduates from the University College of the North, who are working towards or have completed the Information Technology Readiness North or IT Support Technician courses. We gave our guests a tour of our Winnipeg HQ, including a behind-the-scenes look into the wide range of hands-on IT roles at Skip. Thanks to the team at BRUCE OAKE RECOVERY CENTRE for the warm welcome and site visit this week! Our Enterprise IT Team generously donated 70 laptops to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre in Winnipeg, as part of our laptop refurbishment and donation program. The team is committed to sharing valuable tech resources with charities in our community, and is excited to expand the program with additional donations lined up for this year! Well done Food Banks Canada | Banques alimentaires Canada! We were thrilled to volunteer alongside our fellow partner organizations at the annual After The Bell packing event! It takes a village to ensure that no Canadian goes hungry. Many Canadian children rely on school meal programs that close their doors during the summer months. To ensure children have the nourishment they need, Food Banks Canada’s After The Bell Program provides healthy food packs containing child-friendly, nutritious food to supplement their nutrition needs over the summer. Together with over 1,500 volunteers from 58 partner organizations, we packed 83,720 food packs over two days to be distributed to over 215 communities across Canada. Settling into a new home can be challenging. Many of our Skip team members have moved to a new city, into a new role, or across the globe and we want everyone to feel welcome and supported at Skip. Our JETSetters community is a global Employee Resource Group doing just that: providing support, community and resources to newcomers across Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET). Our JETSetters - Canada chapter is ramping up their initiatives at #Skip. At their kickoff event, team members from all areas of the business mixed and mingled during an interactive get-to-know-you bingo game. They were tasked with finding colleagues in the room to match the bingo card prompts. Now attendees know more about each other including: whose email inbox is at zero, who has been in Canada for over five years, who can make a dish from their home country, who’s gone viral online, who knows a historical fact about Canada and more! The 2024 Stanley Cup® Playoffs have come to an end, but there is still one more trophy to be awarded 👀 (Spoiler alert… it’s going to a Canadian hockey fan!) Put your hands together to congratulate Stephanie Simone, CPA, CA, the triumphant winner of the fourth annual Skip x NHL® Bracket Challenge! 👏 We are proud to partner with the National Hockey League (NHL) and we love a little friendly competition when it comes to our nation’s favourite sport. Stephanie most accurately predicted the outcome of this year’s #NHLPlayoffs and now has a trophy to prove it! We don’t know where she keeps her crystal ball, but we can confirm she will be immortalized on the Skip Bracket Challenge Trophy at Skip HQ! She has been leading our dynamic Marketing teams, driving brand strategy, creative initiatives, and customer engagement ever since! Beyond marketing and innovation, Rachel is also a passionate supporter and board member of motionball for Special Olympics, a national not-for-profit that empowers young Canadians to be leaders in their community, raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics through integrated social and sporting events.
