New Ventures BC Competition has announced its top 10 finalists. From AI banking technology to GPS trackers for ski resorts, the prestigious startup selector is down to its last competitors - nine of which hail from Greater Vancouver. Big update! We have been selected as Top 20 finalist in the Grow-NY program! We will be in New York State in October for some business development and then back again in November to pitch for 1M USD! If you’re doing a Q&A onstage: (For a pitch or presentation) Make sure you REPEAT the question, out loud, that the investor or audience member asked. Here’s why: Most people asking question from the audience aren’t worried about being heard. (Cause it’s not their performance!) So they usually speak softly into the mic, and no one in the audience can hear their question. But then the speaker just starts answering without saying: “So the question was: …” This makes it much harder for the audience to follow and understand the answer (obviously!) So unless you’re SURE everyone heard it: Repeat the question before answering. Do you do this for your Q&As? P.S. Shoutout Ishaan Kohli (pictured) for a great job on the Collision PITCH stage 👏

Last week I had the opportunity to pitch SkyAcres Agrotechnologies Inc. in New York for the Google for Startups Accelerator Demo Day for Women Founders and Black Founders. It was such a great moment after all of the work that has been happening behind the scenes. Its also pretty awesome that we were 1 of 3 Canadian women founded startups to take part in this years cohort! Over the last 10 weeks, my co-founder Ishaan Kohli and I had access to high level guidance, mentorship and support alongside other world-class startups solving complex issues across healthcare, data management, climate tech, education, and beyond. Thank you to Google for Startups for bringing together an incredible group of founders, and to all my cohort members for making it such a collaborative and supportive space to learn from eachother. I can’t wait to see what we will all accomplish in the future, because this is only the beginning. I look forward to staying connected with this incredible community of amazing women founders! The SkyAcres team ended Q1 off with a bang! Zaffia and Ishaan were left feeling inspired after meeting all the founders and experts at the at Google headquarters in Mountain View as part of the Google for Startups Accelerator kickoff week. We took home some notes from the NVIDIA GTC conference, seeing some of the trailblazers and superstars in #generativeAI, but we also saw a massive gap in the market for using GenAI in #AgTech & #VerticalFarming We then headed to Toronto to present SkyAcres among some amazing, top companies in Canada at the CIX • Canadian Innovation Exchange conference by Elevate and got to hear from Khosla Ventures and other startup ecosystem members that are putting Canada on the map! 🚀 Grateful for the incredible opportunity to spend a week at Google HQ! 🌟 I’m feeling immensely thankful for the invaluable experience I had this past week at Google’s HQ as part of this years Women Founders Cohort. Having the opportunity to spend the week with my Co-Founder Ishaan Kohli and many other founders from across North America was so heartwarming, yet exciting. Every moment was enriching and inspiring. From storytelling, to fundrasing to hearing Jensen Huang speak at NVIDIA GTC it was an incredible week! A huge shoutout to the amazing team at Google for their warm hospitality and for providing such an immersive learning environment. Special thanks to Iran Karimian , Alice Kawka , Alejandra Alvarado Castaño and Francisco Solsona for their support, insight and guidance throughout the week!
