SkyWatch is on a mission to democratize Earth satellite data and make it accessible to the world.

About us

SkyWatch is on a mission to make Earth-observation data accessible to the world. Hundreds of trillions of pixels of our planet are captured from space every day. With new applications for this data being discovered constantly, the demand for satellite imagery across many industries is increasing. However, the current process for purchasing satellite imagery is extremely time-consuming and tedious. We experienced this problem first hand while working to predict crop yields by monitoring surface-level ozone movement. After weeks of trying to find the right data, we decided to come up with our own solution. Utilizing our past experience in building satellite data aggregation software, our team is developing EarthCache, a robust platform which allows users to discover and access the world’s remote sensing datasets. We are making it easier than ever to perform geospatial analysis by creating one source for the datasets used. Our goal is to become the leading provider of data and intelligence from space. Our team comprises of software developers, engineers, and armchair astrophysicists. We are also: global winners of the 2014 NASA International Space Apps Challenge; Google for Entrepreneurs alumni; Lead Organizer of NASA Space Apps Waterloo; members of the Canadian Space Commerce Association; members of the International Astronomical Union’s Working Group on Time-Domain Astronomy; and founding supporters and directors of MaxQ, Canada’s first accelerator focused on space startups. Our company is committed to providing equal employment opportunity and providing a work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment. We strive to offer competitive salaries and compensation. We're also very flexible and open to filling the unique needs of our employees. Proud member of the Techstars Summer 2016 cohort. The consumerization of geospatial data is happening, and a lot of our customers struggle with centralizing this data without limiting innovation and productivity for their employees, and understanding the value being realized from their significant investment in geospatial data. That's why we created SkyWatch HUB! Check out the article below and, if any of these challenges resonate with you, visit our website to start your 30-day trial of SkyWatch HUB.

Since our recent launch of SkyWatch's HUB as well as our integration with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, we continue to dig deeper into the transformation occurring within the private and public sector as the adoption of commercial imagery continues. Check out the article below published by my colleague Kelly Winter summarizing some of her thoughts.

As we all track the progress of Hurricane Milton, we are reminded of the importance of timely, high-resolution satellite imagery in supporting disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. During a time when access to the right data, delivered at the right time, to the right people is especially critical, we're honoured to announce a multi-year data distribution agreement with Maxar Technologies, marking a significant milestone in making vital geospatial data more accessible to those who need it most. This agreement, the first of its kind, enables the delivery of 50cm, 30cm, and 15cm HD resolution imagery from the Maxar constellation to our global customer base via the SkyWatch platform. With the addition of Maxar's recently launched WorldView Legion satellites, we will be able to significantly increase our capacity to deliver 30cm and 15cm HD data. This capacity expansion is essential not only for businesses and commercial applications, but also for NGOs and humanitarian efforts assisting in immediate disaster response or long-term recovery from crises like the one unfolding now. Our BUILD customers will also have the ability to integrate Maxar's data into their applications via the SkyWatch platform, providing enhanced capabilities for monitoring, assessing, and reacting to real-time events. While nature's unpredictability can be a stark reminder of our vulnerabilities, this partnership strengthens our ability to provide actionable insights when they're most needed. Read the full announcement and learn how you can place an advance order here: https://hubs.li/Q02SK_hD0 Our thoughts are with all those in the path of this storm.

For organization's consistently utilizing commercial remote sensing imagery across a variety of sources and users, SkyWatch's HUB has become an integral part of the solution to problems most organizations are unaware they have. Today, most organizations procuring commercial remote sensing imagery are doing so in silos, meaning: 1. individual users in the organization are procuring their own imagery - and the same imagery is often being procured more than once 2. most staff aren't aware of the imagery options available to the organization 3. no one has any idea how much is being spent annually on imagery 4. no one is helping to optimize the organization for best price, fulfillment, licensing, technical requirements across all imagery vendors 5. storage and access to all commercial imagery isn't simple and centrally accessible to staff 6. innovation using remote sensing imagery is limited to those with historical experience using it SkyWatch wrote a great blog last week expanding on this, as we launched extensive new features in HUB: https://lnkd.in/gCrh7EJu 🛰️
