Yesterday, our Director of Pandemic Threats, Dr Emmanuel Agogo MD MSc MtropMed FRCGP HonMFPH, gave an insightful presentation and joined a panel alongside speakers from Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc., Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Limited, and Codix Pharma Ltd at the National Summit on Diagnostics in Abuja, Nigeria. In his presentation and interventions, he shared lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and opportunities in the field of pandemic preparedness, highlighting the need for better collaboration to build diagnostic capacity in countries like Nigeria. Key opportunities: 👉Developing a diagnostics preparedness roadmap 👉Strengthening biobanks & lab networks 👉Aligning with the WHO collaborative surveillance framework 👉Using data-driven strategies for pathogen diagnostics & outbreak response to benefit countries 👉Advocate for the deployment of tests in global discussions 👉Breaking silos between universal health coverage & health emergencies—they’re two sides of the same coin! It’s time to build strong partnerships and maximize resources!

Through the ACCEDE project, we are working to improve equity in access to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)—a tool that can transform health and quality of life, ensuring that people living with diabetes have the tools they need to manage their condition effectively. More here: https://lnkd.in/etkGPZbr 📣Right now, children with type 1 diabetes in South Africa’s public sector don’t have access to CGM. To help children access the best diabetes care, SA Diabetes Advocacy is leading a critical advocacy push, calling on the South African National Department of Health to prioritize CGM access for children in the public sector. This important petition highlights the urgent need for better care and equity in diabetes management. 📝Stand with them and add your name to the petition today: https://lnkd.in/dHvsse9y #HealthForAll #DiagnosisForAll #DiabetesCare #DiabetesEquity #T1D

Are your kidneys OK? Detect early, protect kidney health ⤵️ 850 million people worldwide have kidney disease, yet 4 in 5 remain undiagnosed—especially in low- and middle-income countries, where access to testing is limited. Without early detection, millions face preventable disability and premature death. This #WorldKidneyDay, we call for action! Point-of-care (POC) creatinine testing is a game-changer for diagnosing kidney disease at the primary care level. It's affordable, accessible, and effective, helping bring early detection and treatment to those who need it most. In collaboration with kidney specialist Dr Valerie Luyckx, we have submitted an application for POC creatinine testing to be included in the 5th WHO Essential Diagnostics List for health facilities without laboratories. If approved, this could be a major step in expanding access to kidney disease testing where it's needed most. It's time to rethink kidney health equity. Implementing POC creatinine testing can bridge the gap, empowering healthcare providers and saving lives. This International Women's Day, we celebrate the power of women’s health and the progress towards eliminating cervical cancer. Through our cervical cancer elimination initiative, we supported five high-burden countries—Kenya, Lesotho, India, South Africa, Viet Nam, and Nigeria—in accelerating efforts to reach the WHO target of 70% HPV screening coverage for eligible women. By engaging both public and private sectors, we helped drive impact across the entire value chain—from product development and regulatory processes to clinical trials, access, and market shaping. When women have access to life-saving diagnostics, they have the power to lead healthier lives, for themselves and their communities. This International Women's Day, we celebrate the power of women’s voices in transforming health systems. At FIND, we want women to be heard, respected, and included in shaping healthcare solutions that truly meet their needs. We are committed to #AccelerateAction by ensuring that women and girls have access to lifesaving diagnostics over the course of their lifetime. One of our flagship projects in women's health is partnering with White Ribbon Alliance Kenya to conduct a listening exercise—engaging women, girls, healthcare workers, and policymakers across 30 counties in Kenya. What did we learn from this project? 👉Health is more than just treatment—women’s needs should be prioritized holistically throughout every stage of life. 👉Barriers such as limited access, financial constraints, cultural norms, and misinformation prevent women from making informed health choices and accessing the care they need. 👉When we listen and act, we create healthcare that works for women—by women. Women and girls know what they need for their health. By listening and acting, we can build healthcare systems that are inclusive, effective, and accessible for all. Join us in breaking barriers, accelerating innovation, and ensuring diagnostics are available, accessible and affordable for every woman, everywhere.
